Life & Work with AnneMarie Ellis

Today we’d like to introduce you to AnneMarie Ellis.

AnneMarie Ellis

Hi AnneMarie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
From a young age, I’ve always been a creative person. My Christmas list always consisted of art and office supplies, and I would often spend hours on Microsoft paint. I took my creativity after my dad, who worked for a family business hand-making lake maps for the Southeast United States. I used to spend the summers watching him, my uncles, and my grandfather carve, process, and print maps by hand.

I graduated college from Georgia College & State University in 2015 with a studio art degree concentrating in painting and printmaking. My experience in the art program at GSCU was wonderful – the professors are incredible and take immense time and care with each student! The plan was to continue my education with an art therapy master’s degree, but I received a job offer at a graphic design studio and took the leap! For four years, I learned digital design, specializing in branding and website design for photographers.

In the fall of 2019, I decided to start my own business, Lovendear Design. I have been designing brands, websites, and digital products for creative business owners since then. I enjoy infusing my background in art to the designs I create, providing a romantic, fine-art touch!

I have a strong faith and believe every talent and ability I have is from God, and I intend to continue creating for His glory!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not always been easy. As a creative, it’s easy to doubt yourself. There have been many times I spiral into the thought process of what I’m creating is not good enough, I’m not making a difference, others in the industry are so much further along than me, etc.

On the business side of things, I have learned a lot about communication and relationships, business admin work, and marketing throughout my journey.

Additionally, as a one-woman show, slow seasons are really tough and make me doubt myself and my journey as well. Business ownership is no joke!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in branding and website design for creative business owners. I mainly work with professionals in the wedding industry, specifically photographers, wedding planners, florists, etc.

With a background in studio art, I am able to infuse a romantic, fine-art style into the designs I create. I offer custom illustrations, textural pieces, and a refined, feminine style.

My ultimate goal is to create one-of-a-kind brands and websites to help entrepreneurs grow their businesses by crafting visual identities that connect on a deep level with their ideal audience.

Additionally, I do well with constructive criticism. One of my favorite parts of the design process is the discovery and strategy of guiding clients through the design process.

I have a deep understanding of how personal business ownership is as a creative. Forming deep connections with my own clients to establish a level of trust is incredibly important to me. I can’t craft brands with meaning without knowing the person first!

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
I have learned to try anything and to not fear failure. Making mistakes is where you really grow. I find that if something doesn’t work, try something else. It pushes you past the boundary of yourself and your own creativity!
