April, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I began my photography journey 16 years ago, inspired by my daughter, who’s now 17. As a single mom at the time, I couldn’t afford professional photography, so I decided to give it a try myself. That experience sparked my passion for artistry and creativity, which has fueled my career ever since.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’m not sure learning a new skill is ever a smooth road, and let’s not even mention the business side of it. So, I would say no. I’m 100% self taught, so going that route to learning photography is NOT easy. It was countless hours of reading, research, youtube tutorials etc. In the beginning years, I also worked full time and I was single mom, so the struggle was finding the actual time to shoot and learn. Needless to say, there was a lot of late nights and sacrifice of my already limited personal time.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m the owner and the lead photographer at April Elizabeth Photography. I specialize in high-end senior portraits and glam-style shoots, offering a full service, concierge-style experience. What sets me my work apart is the personalized touch and attention to detail that go into every shoot. I’m known for capturing the unique personalities of my clients and delivering magazine worthy images.
