Life & Work with Austin Lee Window

Today we’d like to introduce you to Austin Lee Window.

Hi Austin Lee, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started modeling in October of 2017. Completely by accident (lol) helping a friend who’s a fashion designer. He needed male models for one of his swim collections and I agreed to do it. Super nervous, but I did what I had to do and fell in love with the idea of being a model. Months passed and here we are in February 2018 and I’m waking in fashion shows in Atlanta. I started working as an extra at Tyler Perry Studios from March to May 2018. Later that year, I walked a runway in NYC for NYFW in September. Following this, I’ve acted in a local stage play in my hometown, have walked in a host of runway fashion shows and photoshoots. I’ve films with networks like HBO, CW and BET+ Network. I’ve even started to learn how to edit photos and set up visions for my own self-photography. I moved to Philadelphia in the summer of 2021 to be closer to NYC, where I’d go one to do my first photoshoot in the city and a few auditions for acting & modeling. I had my first experience auditioning for a model agency. Months later I moved back home (GA) and filmed as an extra for two more television shows. My goal now is to of course continue pushing myself. But I’m also actively searching for an agent/agency.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Though it’s been a very fun and exciting journey, it has not always been smooth (Chile). I have been told no several times. I’ve been scammed by “agencies”. I would go in for auditions and would actually make it through. I would be so excited only to be asked for thousands of dollars upfront before I’m able to be represented. One “agency” got me. And I felt very bad about it. So I did my research. I know what to look for not and what to be cautious of when searching for agencies and I now know what a real agency would expect from me. And it’s definitely not thousands of dollars before they get you gigs, for sure. (Lol.) A judge for this acting company I auditioned for in Philadelphia told me that my southern accent was not marketable and I was dismissed from the audition. I laughed it off, but I took notes as well. It’s something that I now go into auditions mindful of. But the road has a lot of ups and downs. You need thick skin and the will to keep pushing for your dream.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At the moment, I work in banking. That is what pays the bills. (Lol.) I am known for modeling and acting. I feel I made my mark in that territory years ago when I was very busy with it, and it stuck because I’m great at it. At this point in my Modeling/Acting Career, I am most proud of working on set with Tyler Perry and his crew and walking in NYFW 2018. I don’t know anyone who can say that. Literally, no one around me (that I know of) that does what I do can say they’ve done these things. I think my confidence, faith in my craft and myself, and boldness sets me apart from others. I’m just me, and I’m not trying to look like, dress like, walk or talk like anyone else. When my moment comes, I want it to authentically be mine to have. I don’t want my path to resemble anyone else’s, more so I want my path to inspire. I think that mindset alone sets me pretty far away from most.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Whew, I have so many. Lol. My childhood was very eventful, adventurous, imaginative, and full of LAUGHTER! Any moment with my cousins, for sure, is a favorite childhood memory. There was never a dull moment of I’m around my cousins. Even as adults today, we still carry that same child-like spirit when we’re together and it’s like we never grew up and no time has passed. They are my everything. So yeah, any given moment in time with my cousins were filled with favorite childhood memories.
