Hi Axe, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started out making music at home with a bad microphone and computer. I developed my craft and studio and learned the business through networking and asking questions. I slowly grew into performing at shows and eventually started hosting my own. Now I host a variety of shows for independent artists without a platform to help them in a way that wasn’t available to me. The next step is to start a podcast to highlight artists and promote our shows going forward.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It is a bumpy road. There are always going to be up and downs when you’re doing something with no guidelines or instruction. The biggest struggle is worrying that you aren’t doing enough or you’re not going down the right path.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a musician/artist and independent producer. I specialize in performance and saxophone performance. I’m known for rapping and playing the saxophone with the moniker I received “Axe with the Sax”. I’d say my mix of genres and the saxophone set me apart from most.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
The venues are great and easy to work with. The neighborhoods need more support and could be safer for the youth.
