Life & Work with B’ianca Smith

Today we’d like to introduce you to B’ianca Smith.

Hi B’ianca, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born and raised in Thomaston, Georgia to the late Ms. Sheila Quiller and Mark Smith Sr. Growing up in a small town I was a happy-go-lucky child, I experienced a lot during my teenage years. During 2008, I lost my best friend (Dimitri Maines) who meant the world to me. He was my lifeline the best duo together, sometimes you see me you going to see him half of the time. I fell into depression after that because I lost my protector, my friend who I could run and go talk to about anything, I started writing and putting my thoughts on paper, between my tears or excitement, everything would go on paper. In 2010, I lost my grandmother (Carolyn Lockhart) time didn’t get any better, I kept questioning god like why everything that is close to me keeps leaving me, I started abusing drugs, pills, alcohol, and marijuana just to get through a day of depression.

The beginning of my 11th grade year I drop out of school and started focusing on the streets more, I moved to Atlanta Georgia on the south of Cleveland Ave and started hustling, met a guy which turned into my best friend he showed me the ropes and how to handle and protect myself, I always told him I wanted to be an author because I have wrote my whole lifeline in so many journals everything that I did or encountered. He always said what’s stopping you and I said no one would believe me. And he said I believe you and will always have your back. During 2011-2012 my mother Ms (Sheila Quiller) got sick with kidney failure, I moved back home to take care of my mom, I started working at Hardees as a biscuit maker and went back to school and got my G.E.D. I picked up another full-time job at Ingles and a part-time job at family dollar. I realized that I did not have to do anything illegal to have money. 2015 I put myself into nursing school and in 2019 I graduated for a certified nursing assistant. Working three jobs and was writing at the same time was taking a toll on me but I never gave up, reading and writing was everything to me I was so endured into learning more things, it was my comfort zone and my peace.

2020 I lost the last piece of my heart; my mother died with kidney failure, I was broken into pieces, the last words she said while holding my hand was to finish that book and to never give up. I enrolled in college and graduated from forensics science, I became a Georgia public notary, a minister ordained, a sexual abuse advocate, a substitute teacher, and pertained my cdls. I’m a member of the National Society Of Leadership Success. I own a small business (Carrie’s Healthcare Services). And I just received my license for a registered behavior technician. Volume 1 of my book called T.R.U.T.H. will be released in September on all platforms. The elderly and kids is my passion and helping others. I have big dreams and I have succeeded halfway. The Fall of 2023, I will be returning back to school for a shampoo technician and nail technician and to finish up cybersecurity.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The struggle was relapsing and that you have to leave the people you love behind who was not good for your soul or your spirit. I overcame a lot of obstacles. I kicked anxiety and depression, I felt like my past was holding me back and keeping me at a standpoint that I could not enjoy the parts of living and being free and happy.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Being a registered behavior technician is my lifeline, I get to enjoy working with kids and adults who have autism and developmental disabilities. The joy and excitement when my clients see me is like a breath of fresh air and the happiness they have because I’m being light into somebody’s rain, I’m bringing that sunshine to someone’s storm. The proudest moment that I have at the end of the day that I take care of someone or I make someone’s heart smile; that’s what makes me feel good and what sets me different from others is that I do it from the heart, not the money, when I get older I want someone to treat me the same as the golden heart that I have.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
The best about Atlanta, Georgia is that it’s goal-driven, many opportunities, and better networking. You can’t never go wrong in Atlanta; there is always a hustle in Atlanta.
