Today we’d like to introduce you to Bria Miller.
Hi Bria, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I just turned 30 years old and am a single mom of two toddlers, ages 4 and 3 (11 months apart)! I am originally from Chicago, IL. I went to the University of Notre Dame and moved down to Atlanta, GA in 2015, post-graduation. I started my career as an Auditor for Deloitte and paved my way through the corporate accounting world for the next six years until I reached a breaking point. It was either to commit to the long hours, strict deadlines and obtain my CPA or give myself a break as a single mom trying to do it all and figure out what my true passion was. I knew I was passionate about helping people. While I have built quite a strong mom group of friends on Instagram, and while I do have plans to start my own online business, I found my way to professional staffing. I finally found something that allows me to be social, help my clients and make room for flexibility.
My kids’ dad and I were together for 6 years. While he was accustomed to the limelight as a child actor, I realized that was not for me, so we’ve gone our separate ways. It has been a real challenge navigating how to fully care for and keep up with two extroverted toddlers while also being successful and navigating my own career and passions, let alone dating! ha
But I love sharing my story and hearing others in hopes of encouraging, inspiring and letting other mamas know that you’ve seen, felt and heard. We are strong and we can do anything we put our minds to! I’d love for my kiddos to think mommy is a superhero!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
NOT SMOOTH AT ALL! Lol
Being a single mom has been tough, especially with little to no physical or financial help.
My mom had a brain surgery almost five years ago that has left her unable to talk or walk and though my dad is her support and rock, and she’s otherwise healthy, this happened right as she became a grandma, which was tough. She would LOVE to be more hands-on with my kids and help, but can’t. So that has been tough.
I’m a survivor of a narcissist abusive relationship and the fact that I got out of that engagement with hope in God and my kiddos somewhat fine is a miracle.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I work for The Intersect Group and absolutely love it! I love everyone who works there, our mission and my clients. I specialize in placing Finance and Accounting executives into roles for various companies, large and small throughout Atlanta, inside and outside the perimeter.
I am most proud of landing my clients in roles they love, with competitive salaries and compensation packages. I love putting a smile on people’s faces and helping where I can with advice and offers!
Perhaps what sets me apart is my chameleon personality. I mesh with all kinds of different personalities and walks of life. I find a way to connect with each and every one of my clients.
How do you define success?
Success to me is doing what you love, doing something that is positively helping society, making a name for myself, especially as a black woman and single mom, being a hero to my kids, having flexibility, seeing the world and honoring the purpose God has given me.
