Today we’d like to introduce you to Cade Gass.
Cade, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m originally from Phoenix, and I moved to Atlanta in 2020 to pursue a career in film. From a young age, I’ve always had the desire to act in movies and TV shows, and after getting a few opportunities on sets as a teenager, I decided to fully chase the dream! I’ve been able to act/work on over 10 TV shows and movies over the past few years. Some of my movie roles range from thrillers on the Lifetime Movie Network to indie films on Amazon Prime. Every project makes me fall more in love with the industry, and I’m extremely grateful for the opportunities in Atlanta.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest risks you take in film is the lack of consistency for getting work. It’s definitely not a comfortable 9-5 job, and it’s a lot of “stop-and-go.” When you get a role or a job on set, you travel all over the place, and you never do the same thing twice. It’s definitely exciting, but finding work requires a lot of effort and persistence. I’ve had seasons where I’m booked and busy and others where it feels impossible to find anything. The risk is definitely worth the reward if you’re passionate enough about what you do.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Creativity has always been a key part of who I am. I have a million different outlets for it, and I think the endless possibilities of acting in film is what intrigues me the most. I’ve explored music, photography, and so on, but acting gives me the opportunity to be/do anything and everything. I would say I’m most proud of the fact that my love for this art overpowers the desire to quit when it gets hard. I believe the success I’ve had at this point in my career is due to the fact that I try to surround myself with people and things that bring out the best in me creatively. I think I’ve reached a point where I’m so passionate about what I do that quitting is no longer an option, and I hope to instill that ideology in others pursuing similar careers as well.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I owe so much of where I’m at to the people who have encouraged me over the years. My parents and siblings have had so much faith in me to the point where I think they believe in me more than I believe in myself sometimes! They’ve never planted doubt in my head or made me feel any less for pursuing a more unconventional career. Their faith in me keeps me going on the days where it gets difficult.
I’ve worked with so many great directors, producers, and cast mates over the years, but there are a few distinct people who have challenged, encouraged, and grown me in so many ways. I did a movie called “Tableau” which was directed by Stuart Howes. Not only was his passion for film contagious to me, but he also grew me as both an actor and a person. He made an effort to challenge my skills while filming until I got a scene just right. Off camera, he took the time to get to know me as a person and build me up as a fellow human being. He gave me a lot of faith in my acting career while also showing how to love and inspire people in this field.
I’ve made great friendships with other actors in the industry who have gone on to make incredible films, and their persistency is exactly the type of passion I hope to imitate. Watching them make their name known in their own ways is so fun and encouraging to watch.
