Life & Work with Cameron Norton of Athens, GA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cameron Norton.

Hi Cameron, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been playing music for my entire life, it’s part of who I am. The only thing that changes is what style of music I’m playing, and that is based on my emotions and the environment around me! It’s blessing to be able to make my passion more of a career with each passing day.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course it’s not always a smooth road. The bumps along the way – i.e., being broke, spending too much time away from friends and family, working until exhaustion – they only serve to make the work better in the end. Nothing truly great comes from an easy path. There’s much less soul in a silver spoon.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in all things music. Making it, playing it, singing it, recording it, mixing it, producing it, and most of all listening to it. There’s nothing about music that I don’t love. It’s an endless rabbit hole of discovery and enjoyment, with more to learn everywhere you look.
What sets me apart from others? I’m not sure. The same thing that sets everyone apart from everyone else, I suppose. Individuality, I believe, is what great artists harness better than anyone else. I’m proud of many things, but I believe I am the proudest of the fact that I have always remained true to myself, and done what I believe is the right thing to do- musically and otherwise.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Be honest, be genuine, and be on the lookout for snakes. They’ll bite you if you aren’t careful.
