Life & Work with Chantal Taylor of Jackson, MS

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chantal Taylor.

Hi Chantal, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started my journey from a place of passion, resilience, and survival. At a young age, I learned how to create something out of nothing, using my voice, creativity, and faith as tools to push forward even when life felt uncertain. What began as simply wanting to express myself through writing, music, and movement slowly turned into purpose-driven work.

Over the years, I evolved into a multi-hyphenate entrepreneur—becoming an author, songwriter, line dance choreographer, publicist, and creative director. I built platforms not just for myself, but for others who needed visibility, guidance, and opportunity. That led to the creation of my magazine, podcast, nonprofit organization, and multiple brands in beauty, wellness, and entertainment.

My journey hasn’t been easy. I’ve battled serious health challenges, navigated personal loss, and faced moments where giving up would’ve been the easier option. But every setback refined my vision. Today, I stand as a living testimony that purpose can be born from pain. Everything I do now is about legacy—creating spaces where stories are honored, creativity is nurtured, and people are empowered to turn their struggles into strength.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. My journey has been filled with obstacles that tested me mentally, physically, and emotionally. I’ve battled serious health challenges, including cancer, while still trying to show up for my family, my businesses, and my purpose. There were moments when survival itself took priority over everything else.

I’ve also faced financial setbacks, lack of support, and being underestimated or overlooked in spaces where I had already proven my value. Building brands from the ground up meant wearing many hats with limited resources, learning through trial and error, and pushing forward even when the results weren’t immediate.

On a personal level, I’ve navigated grief, loss, and difficult relationships, all while trying to stay strong and focused. Balancing motherhood, healing, and entrepreneurship was not easy, but every struggle sharpened my resilience. Those challenges didn’t break me—they shaped me, strengthened my faith, and ultimately prepared me to lead, create, and inspire from a place of authenticity and purpose.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My work sits at the intersection of creativity, strategy, and purpose. I am a multi-hyphenate entrepreneur and creative professional who specializes in storytelling, brand building, and platform creation. I do everything from authoring books and writing songs to choreographing line dances, producing content, and executive-producing creative projects. I also work behind the scenes as a publicist, graphic designer, website developer, proofreader, and creative director, helping individuals and brands show up professionally and authentically.

I’m best known for creating platforms that amplify voices. As a magazine owner, podcast host, and nonprofit founder, I’ve featured and supported hundreds of creatives, entrepreneurs, and artists—many of whom were overlooked or just getting started. I’m especially proud of building spaces that celebrate culture, resilience, and real stories, not just trends.

What I’m most proud of is the fact that I’ve built all of this while overcoming serious health challenges, personal loss, and limited resources—and still remained committed to service and impact. My skincare and candle lines reflect my belief in healing, wellness, and self-care, while my entertainment work reflects my love for culture and creative expression.

What sets me apart is my authenticity and versatility. I don’t just talk about empowerment—I live it. I understand both the creative side and the business side, and I lead with heart, faith, and lived experience. Everything I create is rooted in legacy, purpose, and helping others turn their stories into something powerful.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My biggest advice is start where you are and don’t wait to feel “ready.” You’ll learn more by doing than you ever will by over-preparing. When I first started, I wish I had understood that growth is messy and that mistakes are part of the process, not a sign that you’re failing.

Protect your vision and your energy. Not everyone will support you, understand you, or celebrate you—especially in the beginning. Learn early how to set boundaries, value your time, and charge your worth. Free work and over-explaining will drain you faster than hard work ever will.

Build with integrity and consistency, not comparison. Social media can make it look like everyone else is ahead, but stay focused on your lane. Progress compounds when you show up daily, even on the days it feels pointless.

Lastly, take care of your health and your spirit. Burnout is real, and no success is worth losing yourself. Trust God, trust the process, and trust that your story—exactly as it is—has value. If I had known sooner that purpose matters more than perfection, I would’ve moved with a lot more confidence from day one.
