Life & Work with Chelsea White

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea White.

Hi Chelsea, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started crafting as a hobby around 2016. I would make gifts for family and friends. I was that mom who would always send personalized gifts for my kid’s classmates around major holidays. I started selling my creations locally within the local yard sale pages and marketplace. It was a great side hustle to make extra money around the holidays and to pay for my kid’s extracurricular activities.

Full-time I owned a daycare, which in 2020 I closed down due to low enrollment due to the pandemic. More parents were either working from home or laid off. So I started putting more effort into my art. From May 2020 to December 2020 I operated completely out of my home garage. My business really grew to the point where it was taking over my whole house.

In January 2021, I leased my first commercial property that was 2000 square feet. By April 2021 I was running out of space quickly and was able to roll my lease over to an adjacent unit that is 5000 square feet.

Currently, I have three full-time employees now and we curate a wide selection of farmhouse-style furniture, laser cut and engraved art pieces and will be offering metal fabrication this summer of 2022.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My biggest obstacle in running a business has been learning to delegate tasks and that I can’t do everything by myself. I have been so blessed to find amazing team members that understand my vision and are willing to put in the work to help me follow it through.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in farmhouse-style furniture, laser-cut panels/artwork, custom engravings and metal fabrication.

What matters most to you?
I enjoy creating unique pieces for my customers while also teaching my daughters the importance of entrepreneurship and how to run a business.
