Life & Work with Christan Willis of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christan Willis

Hi Christan , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Growing up in the Atlanta restaurant industry from the age of 15, I jumped headfirst into a world brimming with life lessons that only this field could impart. Humbled by the relentless grit required to endure grueling kitchens and the beautiful symphony of working the line, I discovered my true home. Here, I found understanding and a place where my efforts spoke volumes. The restaurant industry saved me.

I’ve created a professional carer as a well known Private chef not only in Atlanta, but across the US. Cooking in some of the most beautiful homes catering to families, friends, and some of the most inspirational people I’ve ever met.

In 2016, I landed my first TV appearance on Food Network. Loosing my very first competition lighted a fire inside me that pushed me to keep going. Since then I’ve been competed on 4 well known competition shows and over 10 National TV segments.

Working with over 15 major brands, and several community engagement events I’ve continued to build my brand as a TV Personality, Chef, and Philanthropist.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In 2017 my dad passed away from heart failure. Colby Willis was one of my biggest supporters.

At the age of 27, I found myself completely devastated when I had to live a “new normal” of life without his guidance and advice. He invested time into my creativity and eventually my early career and molded my character to the woman I am today. I cooked and created some of the best food that same year of his passing- I grieved, I was terrified, and I walked the path others dare to face.

I owe it to him to keep going every time I look at the mixing bowls, cutting board, and other various kitchen equipment he gifted me for those are the small reminders to keep going.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve built an impressive career with a unique culinary style that reflects my diverse heritage, drawing from African American, Southeast Asian, and Pacific Islander influences. With 18 years of extensive experience in fine dining and a dynamic presence on various TV shows to food festivals -such as the Today Show, several Food Network shows, Hallmark Home & Family, HLN, and many local TV interviews and cooking segments, including the trending Netflix show Pressure Cooker, I have positioned myself as a notable figure in the culinary world.

Recently, I’ve received the 2024 Tastemaker award from Meals on Wheels Atlanta, 2023 Most Influential People Award from Herradura, and Big Brother Big Sister Iconic Mentor. Jezebel Magazine 50 Most Beautiful Atlantans 2016 + 2023

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I’m a firm believer in walking by faith- God is very present in my life and in my career.
