Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Sierra.
Hi Danielle, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always wanted to model. My first runway show my freshman year of college and it should say my freshman year of high school and ever since then, I knew I loved being in front of the camera. It gave me a sense of courage and confidence that I was seeking for at that young age. I then started to work with new/upcoming photographers that helped me grow within my modeling career. From working with new/upcoming photographers and collaborating with local brands to help promote on my social media, it helped me also become a brand ambassador for many known brands. I continued to work alongside photographers that could help me create content and build up a portfolio for myself. Throughout the many years – I would say I’ve been modeling/brand ambassador for about eight years I have worked with many companies for hair, clothes, makeup, shoes, and skincare as well as also taking part in music videos! The first major music video I was able to be a part of was around late 2019 and that was with Lil Durk. It was a great experience getting to work with one of my favorite artists and from then on, I have been able to work with many more in the industry,
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not always been a smooth road. To begin, I wasn’t always confident. I struggled with my body image for many years because I felt I wasn’t “skinny enough”. I have always been on the thicker side and it took me a while to become comfortable with my size. I constantly had people telling me “if I had a smaller waist”, “imagine what you would look like if you got your body done”, etc. and it started to make me feel like I wasn’t good enough to be behind the camera at times. After a long talk with my mom one day, I finally came to the realization that I didn’t need to look like everyone else. I was perfectly fine with who I was NATURALLY and I started to continue to build my brand off of just that. I became comfortable with my own skin regardless of outside thoughts and opinions.
I also would I struggled a bit once I hit my first year in college in Miami. I was a full-time student at Florida International University and on top of that worked two jobs. Learning to balance school, two jobs, and modeling was not easy at all and definitely took some time to learn how to stay afloat but I did. I wanted my followers and those who kept up with me and my journey to know you can still go to school, work, and focus on outside hobbies/dreams as well. A lot of people don’t know this but my goal is to go to law school and study to become a lawyer. I want to open my own law firm one day. By me having many focuses, it was not easy and at times did make me feel like I wanted to give up but I never did, and I’m STILL working towards all my goals.
In May of 2021, I relocated from Miami, FL to Atlanta, GA. This was and still has been bit of a challenge for me because I made this move alone. I left all of my friends and family back home in Florida in hopes to further my modeling career and study/enroll into law school. I also work a 9-5 as well so juggling everything at once and still getting settled into my new home is a bit challenging but has been nothing but worth it! I have met so many people and grown so much as an individual. Moving away from home and everything I knew was definitely uncomfortable but being uncomfortable pushed me to grow.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a model, brand ambassador, and social media influencer. I have worked with many companies such as Fashion Nova, Pretty Little Things, etc. I have also been in many music videos with major artists such as Lil Durk, Lil Baby, Gunna, Meek Mill, Fat Joe, Lil Gotit, Vedo, Sukihana, etc. I also have worked and still work with many photographers to build up creative content/portfolio as well. I am most proud of the consistency I have been able to maintain and the growth I have made since my journey first started. I started working with just new upcoming locals to seeing myself on big screens. It has been a blessing to have met so many people in the industry and to work with and learn from.
What were you like growing up?
I was born in Aurora, Colorado and raised in Boynton Beach, Florida. Growing up, I have always been a people person. I was and have always been the outgoing and friendly person. Growing up, I was also very ambitious and hard-working as well. There was and still isn’t anything in this world I couldn’t have if I worked hard enough to obtain it. My mom always made sure that I knew how important it was to work hard for everything/anything I wanted because in life, there are no handouts.
Interest-wise, in high school I participated in sports such as volleyball, cheerleading, and flag football. I also was in student council and even became senior class president. I think these all played a factor in helping me build my leadership and people skills as a whole. I also loved photography which eventually played a role into how I started modeling and got behind the camera.
I’ve always had many friends growing up and was around much love which has helped shape me into the loving, genuine person I am. I loved hanging out with my friends and family. My family has always meant the most to me.
