Life & Work with Darell The Designer of Jersey city , NJ

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darell The Designer .

Hi Darell, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my clothing line about 4-5 years ago. I didn’t know how to sew until I picked up a sewing machine and started self teaching myself how to sew. I put my blood , sweat , and tears into my craft. Putting in the work and long nights with little to no sleep put me in position to be one of the Top designers from New Jersey. I’m not where I won’t to be at yet but I’m striving every single hour, minute, and seconds of the day to achieve my goal to become the greatest to ever do it. My brand DarellMatthew’sCollection will leave a mark on my generation and others to come.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No it hasn’t been a easy road. This profession comes with spending a lot of money and sacrificing time. Trying to be one of the greatest brands in the fashion industry is extremely hard. It’s ok because I love challenges and I don’t want anything easy or just handed to me.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a fashion designer. I sew and make clothes. There isn’t one thing I specifically specialize in. I’m well rounded , I can make anything I see or imagine. Most people know me for my shirts because it’s a story to each piece I create.

I’m most proud of beating the odds and not giving up on what’s destined for me. And what sets me apart from other’s , I’m different. I put feelings , emotions, and stories into my clothes. You can actually feel the texture. For example if I create a flower on my shirt, when you touch the pedal on the shirt it will feel like your touching a real flower.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Yes simple just keep striving and never give up. It’s always a light at the end of the tunnel.

I wish my family would’ve help me out a little more in my early stage. That would’ve gave me a boost.
