Today we’d like to introduce you to Darnae Wynn.
Hi Darnae, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I spent all of my twenties as a married stay-at-home mom. My world crashed when my husband decided he no longer wanted to be married. When you’re a stay-at-home mom fully dependent on your husband, you sort of scramble to get your life together.
I’ve spent the last three years post-divorce doing just that: Going to therapy and healing and learning more about myself and what I wanted out of life and figure out my purpose.
While learning who I am and what I was created for, I discovered that there was something missing in my life: guidance. Yes, I was raised and taken care of, but I wasn’t really guided in life. In my prayer time, God revealed that my purpose is to BE what I wanted and needed. To become the answer to my own need and BE that for another young woman.
I’ve connected very well with women through fitness, so I became a certified personal trainer and have been training women physically while simultaneously using my life knowledge to guide them as they navigate their own lives.
I believe in an active and healthy lifestyle, so I became the fitness court ambassador for my city. I host free workouts at our outdoor fitness gym!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. Lol
As you try to create something that will impact people, change their lives and help them get to a place that they’ve been praying for you, you will face opposition. You now become a threat to the enemy. I firmly believe that we are spiritual beings in a spiritual warfare, so when you try to advance God’s kingdom through building people up and guiding them to reach their full potential, you become a problem.
All kinds of things start happening. You begin to question your worth, value and ability. This weighs very heavy on me sometimes and I want to give up. Sometimes I don’t feel qualified to help people. But God doesn’t allow me to have that mindset for too long. He allows me to see the bigger picture.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a beverage server at a casino. This position has allowed me to interact will all kinds of people. I’ve made so many connections just by serving free Pepsi products. Some of my regulars have become friends.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I believe it is my desire to want to see those around me win at life and not let our circumstances and difficulties keep us down, but use it for a purpose greater than ourselves. We’re all struggling with something, hurting from something. But I desire that anyone I know use that to move towards a greater calling and a purpose.
What I want women to get from me is that they can overcome. A lot of women feel stuck, all they see is what’s in front of them. They don’t see the other side. But I want to challenge and encourage women to go beyond what they see, push pass their perceived abilities and go beyond their wildest dreams!
