Today we’d like to introduce you to Derrante Ross.
Hi Derrante, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started doing hair in secret at 17, hiding my passion from my parents and others while practicing quietly with the support of my grandmother the one person other than my sisters who always saw my potential.
After graduating, I made a promise to myself to take my craft seriously.
And I did.
In just five years, that decision took me from the small town of Pine Bluff in Arkansas all the way to Atlanta, the beauty capital of the South.
And within TWO months of being here, I became a celebrity hairstylist.
A journey that started in silence turned into a career that speaks for itself.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Once I committed to taking my craft seriously. The journey wasn’t easy. I faced homophobia, jealousy, hate, fake friends, and even industry figures I once admired turning negative as my name started to rise.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a hairstylist specializing in flawless lace, but I’m versatile I can deliver a seamless unit or a sleek leave-out using my clients’ natural hair.
I’m known for my polished, precise work and the personality I bring to every appointment.
Making the girls feel confident and pretty is what truly sets me apart.
Any big plans?
My goal is to make a major impact in the hair industry and build real wealth so I can put my family in position to win and retire my mom. I also plan to branch into modeling and expand my brand beyond the chair.
