Life & Work with Destiny Lockett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Destiny Lockett.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
It all started with a passion for fashion. I wanted to reach out into the world with a concept that would never fail nor die out. It was hard at first because I understand brands and clothing and the concept of evolving fashion, but one thing that stood out to me was sunglasses/eyewear in particular. When I put on Sunglasses or any eyewear, It did something to me fashion and confidence-wise. And ever since, it has been part of my wardrobe and my aesthetic.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
A lot of challenges I faced coming up in the eyewear world was I realized very quickly that I had to be comfortable in front of a camera. This was very hard for me to grasp because I am actually an introvert and do not really like a lot of attention, but I am 6’1, so for me not to get a lot of attention is kind of impossible.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an entrepreneur. I sell affordable luxurious eyewear for men and women on my site called Eyedecore.com. My goal is to make Eye Decore the #1 hub for everything eyewear. I also have two other platforms, where I am a Podcaster on a podcast called “ We Got Time” and an Upsell Reseller for “SlayyayyShop”. These platforms work for me because it doesn’t restrict me to one bubble or one thing. I contain a lot of gifts that I like to flourish in because being able to express myself in different realms keeps me at peace. A lot of things that set me apart from others is my my work ethic and my drive to always achieve what I set out to accomplish. I love being able to express myself through ways that other people relate because it’s like sharing with the world how authentic and creative I can really be.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Covid was really hard for me because a lot of people wanted to not spend a lot or feel the need to express themselves because they weren’t out as much. But it did give me a lot of time to revamp and be more creative with all the time that I spent trying to adjust to the new norm as well as others.
