Hi DJ , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
B96 The Block was launched in 2019 with the goal of providing a platform for hosts, radio personalities, and DJs to showcase their talents and connect with a wider audience. It was also created to celebrate the vibrant music scene and shine a spotlight on independent artists from the city.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey hasn’t been easy. Like any new venture, there was plenty of hard work required to bring the vision to life. We faced challenges in figuring out how to make the brand truly come alive. In the early days, it was tough to find the right people who believed in the vision and trusted the direction we were heading. As a new station, we also had to learn the ins and outs of the business, figuring out the dos and don’ts along the way.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I see the industry moving away from traditional terrestrial radio and shifting more toward streaming. As technology continues to advance, streaming will enable stations to reach a global audience, allowing people from all over the world to connect with Atlanta’s culture, and vice versa. I believe streaming will also open up opportunities for anyone to create and grow their own radio station. Additionally, it will give artists the chance to be heard internationally and build a fan base across different countries.
