Life & Work with Don Jehiel of West side of Atl

Today we’d like to introduce you to Don Jehiel

Hi Don, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I initially started out dressing up for things, getting compliments, and admiring the first few waves of influencers. Then I started doing the same for myself, taking photos, doing consultations, and documenting my clothing and style as I began to experiment with my own. Eventually I started doing shoots as a stylist, then model. I got really into skating haha and had even started a small online thrift boutique and jewelry line. And now, I’m kind of just managing all of these passions with my developed passion of content creation and growing myself into a bigger personal brand encompassing roller skating, fashion, and other things!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth road at all. The biggest challenges were covering my necessities and progressing my personal life while pursuing everything career wise. I’ve gone through so many jobs, bought a house, multiple cars, and a serious/long-term relationship all while managing to grow from a stylist to a fashion creative and from a roller skater to a performer that’s done a variety of bookings. I’ve been out of work for multiple months at a time, dealt with depression, faced medical scares for myself and my mother, and had to grow further into myself, getting past my own mental hurdles towards myself and getting over what others may or have said to and about me.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I do a multitude of things, primarily in the spaces of fashion and roller skating. I am a performer and content creator in the roller skating niche. I also assist with choreography and skate lessons, though these are more case by case scenario. Within in fashion, I am primarily an e-commerce and print model, model coach, fashion/style advisor, reseller, owner of a luxury/street jewelry brand, micro-influencer, personal shopper and stylist, and lastly an enthusiast/student of fashion and its’ history as a whole. I’m also getting further into performance arts such as acting as well!

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
You get there fast if you go on your own but if you go with others, you’ll go even further. It takes a frfeaking village to raise a child and help get things going.
