Today we’d like to introduce you to Donyale Middleton.
Hi Donyale, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started doing nails when I was 15! I use to get them done so much and developed a great relationship with my nail tech! she needed help one day and I knew absolutely nothing, but she taught me all of the basics! I have been doing nails ever since! I then Went home based doing it in an ironing board in my mother’s living room! Hearing her yell each day because I had so many people coming in and out!! Hit many bumps that try and find a great location and group of people to work with! I then came across Rachel M who changed my career!! She helped me get my license and gave me much opportunity!! Forever grateful for her!
My skills have had me be featured in essence for BLM nail art, worked with miss Georgia thanks to Tiana G! I have come across amazing boss women who believed in me and gave me a chance to showcase my talents! I now have my own salon in Milledgeville, ga and a new suite located at Beauty &brows suites Stonecrest, Ga! I’m not just a small town girl becoming a big deal!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Hasn’t always been smooth! Bumps in the road with going to school and not finishing! A failed apprenticeship one before! And also the area I was in not having as much support! I have always had more clientele from other cities. Other salons I have been in have tried to hinder my career as well.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an artist first and foremost! I love everything art!! I can travel to places and things I see, feel or hear I incorporate it into my nail sets!! One of my specialties is my freestyle sets!! I love those because it allows me to let my creative juices flow and really show what I can do! It’s definitely and client favorite!
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Most important lesson I learned to keep everyone safe! I’ve always been a one on one nail tech so it wasn’t much of a transition for me!
