Today we’d like to introduce you to Ebony Adell.
Ebony, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and I spent the summers of my youth at my grandma’s house on the south side of Chicago, down south in Mississippi, and in New Orleans. I’ve always engaged and thrived in the arts. Art, dance, literature, and music are a major foundation of my personhood.
Today, I’m exactly where I am supposed to be. But in respect to this point of my career, I can pinpoint two major life-changing events.
First was my Invitation to Paris Fashion Week, which ended up being London Fashion Week between the pandemic and some political things that were occurring in France at the time. My first international show in 2021 set the bar for the brand and for me as a person. TSX Design House was featured in 20+ publications. Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, Cosmopolitan and more, plus I made the trend reports. The second was when my art submission was accepted to exhibit at The Biennale de Venezia in 2022.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Manifestation is real. So, no matter how off-track things may seem, I’ve learned I have to trust God and follow the path the universe sets before me. As long as I pray, stay consistent, walk, and live in my purpose, I prevail regardless of what’s in the way. I understand that I created this, the vibrational reality that I exist in. However, I also understand that I can finally say that this is the closest I’ve ever come to manifesting the vibrational reality that I deserve.
Staying on the path and maintaining balance when my personal world starts unraveling at the seams is a struggle at times. Simultaneously, business might be really slow having you feel like it’s the end of the world. It’s important in those moments to reflect on the road traveled and how far you’ve come. Respect your position. You never want to cave to that pressure like you have to hustle backward to move forward. Do not. I repeat, do not do it. It’s a trap.
Once the ball gets rolling, your name starts ringing bells, and the next thing you know, you’re booked a full year or two out. You have to have more than a vision; you have to have some foresight.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an international sustainable luxury fashion designer, protest artist, author, and yogi. I’m known for setting color trends and activating the chakras of the consumer through my clothes, art, and holistic makeover services like yoga and meditation.
Each fashion show is a visual mantra that shows you what the activated chakras look like and demonstrates the lifestyle that sustainability can create. London was Transcend8, the activation of the first seven physical chakras and the transcendence into the 4th dimension disassociated from the physical consciousness. IDFW Season 5 ss23 was Chakrasana. A testimony to sustainability as a path to freedom and what that looks like when we tap into the 5th dimension and beyond. This year IDFW Season 7 ss24 is Kalabi-Yau where we step into the 6th dimension and a higher consciousness. We begin to understand how participation in a holistic lifestyle is transformative. You become a vessel of a higher power.
I’m proud of the constant evolution. A few years ago, my moves were pivots to divert disasters. Everything is happening just as it should, and when I’m making decisions, they’re calculated and purposeful. These digital shows have created new opportunities and pushed me to new limits. I’m proud of the strides I’m making as a production company, learning the camera. Two other things I’m really proud of is my growth as an artist. By the end of the year, I will have had exhibitions in Italy, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Dubai, Miami, New York and in my hometown of Milwaukee. Things are moving so fast, I have no choice but to level up to keep up with the blessings. Another thing I’m proud of is the ability to share this experience with my children. They can begin to build a name for themselves in the world.
What sets me apart from others is that I’m married to the game. This is my life mission existentially experience the brand as my life. So I experience what my customers experience as I phase over to as close to 100% sustainability as I can get in my life and within the brand itself. I want to encourage other brands to help me bring that 20% engagement in the industry to at least 50% by 2028.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Countering socioenvironmental oppression is the foundational principal of the brand. Sustainability will be the number 1 issue by the 2028 Presidential election regardless of party affiliation. Climate change is here, and it will only increase in intensity with every passing year. It’s our responsibility as artists to take action and use our platforms to encourage the collective community to engage in a more sustainable, holistic lifestyle.
Our goal is to continue to provide products created from GOTS-certified resources that are safe for the environment, limited edition, made to order, and partnered with yoga and meditation services. Three price points offer more options for consumers in different income brackets that vibrate on the same frequency. A substantial number of people making small lifestyle changes but long-term commitments to preserve the environment will contribute to the reduction of all of our carbon footprint.
According to throundup.org “the fashion industry produces 92 million tons of waste per year, and only 20% of textiles are collected for reuse or recycling globally. Textile production generates 42 million tons of plastic waste per year, making the textile industry the second-highest industrial sector after packaging.
Every time a synthetic garment is washed, it releases tiny plastic microfibers into the water. Up to 500,000 tons of microfibers end up in the ocean every year.
Textiles and fashion waste account for 9% of annual microplastic pollution added to our oceans.
Additionally, the footwear industry and garment industry combined are responsible for 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions.” The more we can influence the buying power within the sustainable luxury market, the more we can implement overall change within the industry. Once those spending habits go green in a major way, the tide will definitely turn.
Lastly as artists, we’re activists. It’s our responsibility to utilize our platforms and visibility to combat social justice on every level.
