Today we’d like to introduce you to Emme Rain.
Hi Emme, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m not from Atlanta, though I consider that a second home for Magickal Mystic. It is the exclusive site of our annual expo and 3 of my staff live there, not far from Buckhead.
My spiritual journey started in traditional religion where I was trained in protocol, grant writing, program development, ministry, outreach and over the course of 18 years, worked every aspect of church. I didn’t know that would be the launch pad for Magickal Mystic, Divinity Academy and EmmeBossed Entertainment. All that training came to a head that made sense after I began exploring independent spirituality through the lens of African spirituality and eastern philosophy. It was the glue that brought all my prior life experiences, good and bad, to beneficial use.
I began Magickal Mystic through understanding what was missing and what parts of that I could supply. I began it in November 2016 and by September 2018, I was a first generation millionaire. In 2019, I added Divinity Academy to offer quality spiritual education. It has been all upwards trajectory since, but also a lot of learning curves. Social media has been the path to millions, people and money.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It was not always smooth. The path I’ve chosen is not traditional so there was a lack of education. I chose to step into that as well to help people understand. In fact, it is a hot button topic and many are sensitive about religion, so there has been tons of personal attacks and all out slander.
But the biggest hurdle was learning to manage people and money. Til this day, I am still actively educating myself on both topics. I’ve made some financial mistakes and been slow to trust others when I needed outside wisdom. It was expensive and yet, helped me to understand the blockages that often exist within us when we come from poverty.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Recently, I released my first album on my 50th birthday. I’ve always loved music and been around others who do music. When I began EmmeBossed Entertainment, it was originally to protect creatives, help others out of contracts, or stop them from going into bad ones, help social talents monetize their following and know-how. I had no idea that I would eventually add on a label to it for my music and now another talent. I am a talent manager as well. My first client was Mr. I Ain’t Fresh, Derrick Lambert. I was able to secure brand deals and protect his brand from those who were overreaching. That bloomed into a full roster of other influencers and musical talents that I provide various services for, from on-site protection for events they are scheduled for, to business setup and merch creation, to brand deals.
One of the key things that sets me apart is I’m not interested in holding any talent into long term contracts or milking anyone. I have set fees for most services, and those that are on percentage offers me no incentive to back door my clientele. It’s an “earn every dime” system, the kind I would want as an artist, creative and influencer. I believe a GREAT job gives you reputation that brings clientele and keeps you eating, versus clinging to any one talent and bleeding them until they hate you. That’s bad business.
I’ve been in business since 2001 and am a serial entrepreneur, definitely not an overnight success. All that experience has given me a diverse and long roster of connections which further helps me serve my clientele, and has been beneficial in me launching out as an independent artist who is responsible for my own success, and now the success of others.
I’m most proud of being a real walking powerhouse who has an ownership mindset and seeks to create more owners. I’ve helped create over 30 millionaires and hundreds of new businesses. That’s my pride and joy- my results!
What were you like growing up?
I was a deep thinker, sometimes a social butterfly and other times a loner. I was always the teacher and got in trouble for it. I loved reading and wanted to be a history teacher. My friends and I did our own little singing group, and then it was rap. I liked learning things and knowing something about anything that became a topic around me. I had a troubled family though and went through abuse very young, had my first child at 15, and that was kind of the end of thinking like a child… until I became successful. Now I go back and indulge my inner child as a means of therapy and healing.
