Life & Work with Emoni Bartley of Edgewood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emoni Bartley.

Hi Emoni, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am a seamstress, I have always loved fashion. When I was younger my aunt made dresses for dolls and did conventions all over and it seemed like the coolest thing to me which pushed me to learn to sew at a young age. Over the years my love for beauty and fashion has extended into business with my seamstress services my business is called Extreme Obsession To Beauty where we encourage all to be obsessed with their natural given beauty. I am also a walking testimony so I learned to share my stories through music. My artist name is MoniiWeed. I have been able to not only reach people but help people through situations with my music. Even being from Savannah, Atlanta has been a major blessing and part of my story.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Learning the ins and out hasn’t honestly been a breeze, from learning what I want to do or learning how to juggle all the things I am capable to do. They all have different levels and goals for you to attain so you better bet you’ll be facing some struggles. Personally, I know how to trust God’s process for me. He walks me into the right doors and when I walk myself into the wrong ones he guides me right on out I would be wrong to say it isn’t challenging because every testimony has challenges but I can say I kept my faith through it all and everybody don’t.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am known to be an Artist by the name of MoniiWeed in the East Atlanta area, I have been blessed to do recurring shows at Sunday Sesh working with a few important companies and people in the industry such as Dj Roots and Amy with the Queenz of Cannabis gigs so early in my career. I have a few hit singles my favorite being Hit of Me, basically me comparing men’s obsession with me to their obsession to Mary Jane. I’m known to do more story telling rap, and I originally started rapping as an outlet but I began to go hard recently as I was growing outside of my shell. I’m also a seamstress so I get to do fun looks for myself for my shows and photo shoots so that’s always a plus lol.

Any big plans?
In the future I’m planning to own a huge studio. My studio will be for creatives especially, more specific to the beauty and music/photography and videography industry. So I have been focusing on networking and building a team for the things I would like to offer. Obsessed studio is in the future plans for sure.
