Life & Work with Erin Bolden

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Bolden.

Hi Erin, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve been wanting to start my loc journey for over two years now, but after seeing so many gorgeous women starting their journeys on platforms like TikTok, I was extremely inspired to just go for it! I have been natural for my entire life and always followed the newest natural hair trends and fads, hoping that I would find ways to better manage my hair. Although I got continuous compliments on my natural hair, I rarely felt pretty or put together with just my curls. To combat that feeling, I finally started my loc journey in October of 2021 and decided to document my progress for myself on Instagram. Little did I know, many other beautiful women in our community needed the same push or inspiration that I did!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey definitely had some bumps along the way. Since I had never done anything so drastic to my hair, it took a while for me to feel truly confident in my hair and my appearance as I was used to a certain look. However, once I fully embraced the journey I was on, I was able to see the beauty and the uniqueness of loc’ing my hair!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I currently work as a social media marketer for a small business, and I specialize in content creation and content marketing. I am extremely proud that I can create content and social media strategies for small businesses to help with growth and brand exposure. I think that my work is special because I am able to focus in on a brand’s message and vision to make their content stand out!

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was a pretty introverted kid, but I was always participating in anything creative. From building robots with legos to creating mini fashion shows with my younger sister, I’ve always had a knack for artistry and creativity. Even though I was more shy, I was able to come out of my shell through creation by bringing my inner ideas to life.
