Life & Work with Felicia Vereen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Felicia Vereen.

Felicia Vereen

Hi Felicia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Greetings to all! I am Felicia Vereen, and I’m a new resident of the Lithonia, GA community. I am originally from a small town down south, known as Buena Vista, GA. My passion is working with our youth as well as serving my community. I am a dedicated mother to three young men and three young ladies! My most recent sight has been set on the Ms. Full-Figured Georgia 2024 Crown. The thing I love about the Ms. Full-Figured Georgia Organization is that it allows you to be your authentic self with no judgment and no boundaries, and it’s not all about the physicality but your true authentic being. My journey to the crown allows me the opportunity to inspire & empower others. It also allows me to radiate self-assurance in every aspect of my personal life. I am also the Founder of the organization Rights for Life where we focus on Criminal Justice Reform while helping others transition back into the community. I also have birthed the CREATING CONFIDENCE initiative, where I mentor our youth about making positive choices as I redefine beauty to help others catapult into their destinies,

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I often time reflect on how far I have come in life. Life definitely does be “life-ing” at times. But I thank my GOD I am NOT where I used to be. I’m grateful for my struggles and my obstacles for they made me the young woman that you see before you on today. I remember times when I literally lost myself while helping others find themselves. When I first began my pageant journey, I was feeling down in my spirit because I felt as if I wasn’t getting support from my family and friends that were the closest to me. I had to take a deep breath and remember to stop focusing on what was NOT working out like I wanted and focus on WHAT WAS! I remember days when I felt life was unbearable, but GOD kept me, and he kept me in my right mind, and he gave me the strength to keep going! For his grace on my life, I make it my vow to get better day by day in every way!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My background is Early Childhood Education, where I have served in the role of Childcare Center Directing. I currently serve as an Assistant Site Director/Resident Services Manager for a non-profit organization in Atlanta, GA. I also do various things alongside my community service partner, Mrs. Jackie Johnson (Kendrick Johnson Foundation), out of Valdosta, GA. We advocate for justice for her beloved son Kendrick, who was unjustly unalived at Lowndes County High School in 2003.

How do you think about luck?

I operate in the spirit of BLESSINGS! I think that everything that has happened in my life is because of the blessings that I prayed for. I have been in situations in life where I knew it was solely Divine Intervention and the calling and purpose over my life that carried me through.

When I first began my pageant journey, I was feeling down in my spirit because I felt as if I had a lack of support. I had to take a deep breath and remember to stop focusing on what was NOT working out like I wanted and focus on WHAT WAS!
