Life & Work with Gerald-Brandon Bell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gerald-Brandon Bell.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
As an artist & student of Duke Ellington School of the Arts in DC, I founded Phyre Arts & Entertainment as a production company & canvas for true artists to create and push the envelope on art and performance, producing creative live event productions with messaging, storyline unique visuals, music and choreography. Guests at these events started requesting entertainment at their private events so we created entertainment & event services division. As we noticed clients struggling with bar service vendors and DJs, we expanded our entertainment services to include that. That division is now “the fun” at every event and we are now in four cities including NYC, ATL, DC & LA while simultaneously producing creative events on the production side.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Several factors offer bumps in the road, whether it’s capital, staffing, client cancellations, regulations per city and clientele that needs extra care & handling, not to mention Covid has hit us hard with both production and event services. As a black-owned company and easily googled on our history and brand, companies seek us out and unfortunately there does come hesitation when clients learn that it’s black-owned and heavily black and minority staffed. Yet we walk into every situation and speak with every client knowing our product and brand is top-notch. Though there are those obstacles, the mindset of “it’s ours to get” knocks many of the challenges down. It also helps us to realize that we as a community need to do a lot more work in creating access for small and minority own business to seek support financially and to have access to investment and growth possibilities. They are too few and too far between.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am definitely a very creative person with an array of talents from visual arts, painting, fashion design to acting, dancing and scriptwriting. I never like to be boastful or braggadocios but it’s honestly what I’m blessed with and is my life & I’m grateful and never take it for granted, always thinking of ways I can improve. Creating is everything to me and art is my life. I love to reach people intellectually, emotionally, inspirationally & create escapism at the same time. Whether it’s a full production/ event we produce, artwork or if it’s our live entertainment or bartending services for others. We want to create a world of imagination. Art & Love are universal languages and in everything I and my company represents is done with love light and to create a great memory that we hope inspires others to continue in that higher frequency.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
On the Production/ Creative Side of the company, We are working on an event that will be hosted by Paris, France as well as we are working on a musical mini-series that I have written with my team to hopefully be picked up by a major streaming service. We are also expanding the event services company to New York, Washington DC, Las Vegas and Are Already Servicing Los Angeles & of course Atlanta.
