Today we’d like to introduce you to Grace Waters.
Hi Grace, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am known as Grace Waters. It seems I have always been writing and encouraging others, even as a young girl. I had a lot of notebooks, and would compose poetry or write different bits in the notebooks. In middle school, I was selected to present my writing to a large group of people, and it was then that I realized my writing could lift up more people than I originally considered. This lead to me eventually formalizing my business Grace Waters, LLC, under which is my author persona, motivational speaking, certified life coaching services, and ghost writing/editing services.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I really do wish I could say the road has been smooth, but that is not the case. While I have had a passion for what I do, I first had to convince myself that my passion was worth pursuing. Once I chose to step out on faith and begin functioning in my business, I found that opportunities have not always been present, and even though I have published several books, the market has not been as favorable as I desire. Even so, I have continued to work my passion. Once my family began to grow, I found myself torn between home life and my business, but despite all of the changes, Grace Waters, LLC persists. My passion is my purpose, and that drives me on days when it would seem easier to give up.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Under the Grace Waters, LLC umbrella, I am a Published Author, Keynote/Motivational speaker, Certified Life Coach, and Ghostwriter/Editor. Yes, I function as many things, but all of it is a part of my passion regarding uplifting, assisting, and being an adjutant and pushing others into the best version of themselves. My specialty is speaking to the inner person who is often inundated with societal norms and expectations combined with historical experiences, and encouraging that person to push past all of the noise, doubt, fear, and hesitation to comfortability in the uncomfortable.
I am proud to say that I can speak to people in this way because I have lived the journey, and because I am human, I still experience some of the journey; however, because of my education and experience, I offer assistance with moving forward. Not only does my education speak for me (BA in English from Spelman College, Masters of Social Work from Georgia State University, Licensed Master Social Worker), my experience offers a unique lens from which I function.
I am known for getting to the root of matters and addressing the uncomfortable because that is the way to complete healing and newness.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I have given up and quit my business MANY times. I have had periods where I stopped writing and speaking, and where my coaching business has been non-existent. As an encourager, it is sometimes difficult to encourage myself, BUT I have pulled on my faith each time and come back. I do this because my passion and business are bigger than me, and my heart is to reach EVERY single person I am supposed to encourage.
