Life & Work with Irmarilis Sanchez of Winder

Today we’d like to introduce you to Irmarilis Sanchez.

Irmarilis, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My passion for serving the community began while working with a previous organization. Through that experience, I developed a deep desire to help others, which inspired me to start my own organization with the goal of making a meaningful impact in the community.

In 2017, we launched Call to Serve Georgia. In our early years, we partnered with local nonprofit organizations and volunteered alongside them to support individuals and families in need.

Over the past three years, our mission has continued to grow. We now provide monthly food banks for families facing food insecurity, support single expecting mothers through our Loving Baby Boxes filled with essential baby items, visit senior homes and spread the love, and reach out to the homeless community by distributing care bags that include hygiene supplies and blankets.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We are grateful to have faithful donors who consistently support our mission. Their generosity has allowed us to continue serving our community and expand our outreach programs. However, as the needs within our community continue to grow, the demand for our services has increased significantly.

To meet this rising need, we are now seeking additional donations and support so we can continue providing food to families, assistance to expecting mothers, and care supplies to individuals experiencing homelessness. With increased resources and partnerships, we can broaden our reach and ensure that no one in our community is left without help.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My name is Irmarilis Sanchez, and I serve as the Senior Pastor at TIR GA Ministry. I was called into pastoral ministry 14 years ago, and since then, my passion has been to serve, lead, and uplift individuals and families within our community.

I have also had the privilege of serving as a board member at Family Connections in Georgia, where I gained valuable experience working alongside community leaders and nonprofit organizations.

I am especially proud to reach people from different nationalities, including the Spanish-speaking community, which often does not receive the support it needs due to language barriers. Through faith, compassion, and outreach, my goal is to ensure that no one is overlooked and that every individual has access to the resources and support they deserve.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I view risk-taking as a balance between courage and preparation. I don’t see risk as acting impulsively, but as making thoughtful decisions even when outcomes aren’t guaranteed. I’m comfortable taking calculated risks when I believe the potential for growth or learning outweighs the uncertainty.
