Life & Work with Janique Johnson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janique Johnson.

Hi Janique, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I served in the US Army for seven years. After my last deployment, I moved to Atlanta, GA where I began a career in the financial services industry. I loved helping my customers enrich their financial life by helping finance their homes, providing business development advice as well as the genuine love I have for helping others. In 2019 I purchased my first property and found the process to be fairly simple. At that point, it was when I decided that I could help people own their own home as well and started the journey to becoming a real estate agent. I’ve been a licensed agent for a little over two years and have since helped clients relocate to Atlanta, purchase their first property and helped with a few rentals.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The world of real estate has not necessarily been an easy one for me. I literally became licensed a few weeks before the world shut down due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. Although it was an unfortunate event, I was able to perfect my marketing craft so that when the world opened up some, I had a pipeline to work with.

Also on this journey, I had to make a decision to continue working for a company I loved or transition to real estate as I couldn’t do both because of the conflict of interest. I’ve made a lot of tough decisions in my life and I’m a woman of faith so I decided to step out on faith and don’t regret my decision.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
What I love most about my work is the opportunity to help people. I believe there are a lot of things that people want to do but don’t necessarily have the resources or someone to guide them. I enjoy being the resource or guide. Throughout my life, I’ve been the first to do a lot of things in my circle so I know what it feels like to not really have any assistance. I’m thankful for the people that have helped me along the way and I feel the greatest form of thank you I can give is to continue to pay it forward.

As a real estate agent, I work with a lot of people that this is their first time purchasing a home or their first time moving to such a big place. Knowing that I pride myself on being genuine in the transaction by providing input that I believe may be helpful as well as taking the time to educate so that they may in turn give the information to someone else. And that is what I believe sets me apart. Being an agent to me is more than the income opportunity but more about helping. When you do something you are called to do, the money will come.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I’m not for certain where the industry will go in the next 5-10 years. The pandemic has been unlike anything we’ve seen before so there’s nothing to compare it to. I do however believe that there will be an emergence of real estate investment opportunities as many are looking for something stable and a legacy to leave their family.
