Hi Jazlyn, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Jazlyn Atiana aka jazkills on social media. I started off modeling in a troupe on my college campus in 2018. From there I built a strong presence online. I began my career as a driven content creator and entrepreneur known for beauty, lifestyle, and personal development content. My passion is helping others grow and level up, I use my platforms to inspire my audience to embrace their potential and pursue their dreams.
I create engaging and empowering videos on beauty tips, lifestyle hacks, and real-life vlogs. I provide my audience with authentic content that motivates them to live their best lives.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road but I have been extremely blessed and favored. As a Black and dark-skinned woman who has appeared on TV and is striving to carve out a successful career, some of my struggles I’ve faced are colorism and representation. Despite progress, the media industry still often underrepresents or misrepresents Black women, particularly darker-skinned women. I feel as though this sometimes makes it harder to get roles or opportunities that reflect my true potential. I have found myself having to fight against stereotypes or limited casting choices, pushing for spaces where darker skin tones are embraced and celebrated, not sidelined.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As an artist and creative, I gained most of my recognition for my appearance on the Netflix show Too Hot to Handle, I was able to showcase not just some of my personality but also my ability to connect with audiences on a global platform. This experience highlighted my charisma and ability to engage viewers, which I now carry into my beauty, lifestyle, and personal development content.
I specialize in creating authentic and empowering content that spans beauty tutorials, lifestyle vlogs, and motivational messages. I’m known for using my platform to uplift and inspire others, encouraging my audience to embrace their individuality and pursue self-improvement.
I am most proud of how i’ve turned my time on Too Hot to Handle into a launchpad for my creative career, while staying true to my values. I have cultivated a loyal community of followers who appreciate not only my beauty and style tips but also my transparency and authenticity in sharing my journey. There are still so many things that I want to accomplish in my career and this is only the beginning!
What sets me apart is my ability to blend my creative work with my personal experiences as a Black, dark-skinned woman navigating the media industry. My content stands out because of my commitment to being real with my audience, offering inspiration that is deeply rooted in my faith, personal growth, and desire to break down barriers in beauty and media.
My ultimate goal isn’t just to entertain—it’s to create a lasting impact by empowering others to level up and live their best lives, while celebrating Black beauty and excellence in spaces where it’s often underrepresented.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t rely on luck; I place my trust in God. I seek His guidance in every decision I make and every opportunity that comes my way. I have faith that what is meant for me will always find its way to me, and I trust that everything unfolds for a purpose.
