Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremiah Jacksun.
Hi Jeremiah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Thank you, Voyage ATL magazine for speaking with me today. I’m a young black male from the West End of Atlanta. I grew up in the projects and had to escape from dealers, corner boys, and a plethora of bad decisions by diving into music. Through my interest to music, there was an insatiable need to be creative in my artistry to express myself when I couldn’t be heard at home, school, and just around my neighborhood. I got here today by constantly getting up and brushing myself off and recognizing that I will not allow my past to become today’s reality.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The challenges I faced in life only made me stronger. I was born into poverty, which created many daily challenges just to have necessities. So, from a very young age, I learned how to deal with adversity. The music industry is a challenge in itself, with people constantly telling you that you need to change, that this isn’t what the people want to hear, etc. Even taking the time to educate myself about the entertainment industry can be daunting. But, despite all of these challenges, I remain strong and continue to pursue my dreams.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a musical artist with an acting niche close to my heart as well. I am ever-evolving into diverse forms of performance such as being a fitness enthusiast that includes being a certified personal trainer, certified advanced sports nutrition specialist, life coach and influencer. So working with me over the competition, considering my vast knowledge in these different areas, will add layers and depth to any collaboration with me. What I am most proud of is my self-discovery and healing journey, and what my podcast has been able to do for many of my supporters who have suffered from various forms of trauma. In addition to my guest appearance on *Sway In The Morning, my podcast titled Know Your Platform has created a fan base for me. *Sway In The Morning, 1 July 2020
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t quite believe in “just” luck. Everything that’s happened for me or to me has been a part of my journey- a journey that has prepared me for the level that I’m at as a person and a musician. Some people seem to have all the luck in the world, while others can’t seem to catch a break. I believe that we create our own luck by staying positive and putting ourselves out there. So go out and make your own luck!
