Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Bishop.
Hi Jonathan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It started with a way of life, an ideology. We called each other WXLF (WOLF), in East Flatbush, Brooklyn to uphold each other to the values of being a go getter, the slogan was birthed ….”If you don’t hunt, you don’t eat”. Being that I was back and forth from NYC to ATL it quickly caught friction down there and became in high demand. People took a liking to the simplicity of our style and deep meaning to our brand philosophy.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a huge learning experience, as with any journey you take some L’s in the process, but you have to combat those L’s with larger W’s. Understanding marketing (huge help from my girl Taylor Marie ) has been an upward battle but we are getting to a space where we are dominating the field. Running a fashion brand is like raising a child… its always something.. for example learning sizes, inventory, dealing with the supply chain issues due to covid, etc.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I do music that’s where my heart is, songwriter/artist. I invested into a camera and got really good at it, so now I use those skills for marketing, music videos, and commercials for the brand.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I came from good roots, West Indian to be exact my grandmother is from Barbados… so food culture music always stuck with me from the Caribbean. I was what people described as a people’s person, street smart, self-educated, but also a nomad. I’m honestly the type of person you can drop off anywhere on this earth and I’m going to figure it out.
