Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Wilson.
Hi Joshua, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always had a passion & love for music and helping others. I raised in church and started out musically on the drums before taking a love for piano. Interestingly while cultivating my love for music, I recognized I had an affinity for preaching/inspiring others. There were plenty of times I’d get home from church and take my drumsticks and use them as a microphone to preach to my teddy bears. As a young lad, I didn’t know I could simultaneously have a passion for both so I decided to pursue becoming a musician. It wasn’t until later on in life that I realized my passion for inspiring and encouraging others never went away so I prayed about it and that’s when I accepted my calling to ministry. Understanding that I can be everything God has called me to be, I’ve blessed to play & preach in numerous of places as well as release a motivational book & journal titled “12:01 am Motivation After Your Midnight”.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. I’ve faced challenges/struggles along the way. Relationships that I thought were solid proved to be precarious, seeing people close to me pass away due to Covid 19 and other health-related illnesses knowing there’s nothing I could do to stop it. Even dealing my own health scare a few years ago being told I had cancer and at that time not knowing if it had metastasized. Uncertain/Scary times for real.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a minister, motivational speaker, and musician. God has gifted me to be able to motivate and inspire kids/Adults who feel like they don’t deserve a second chance. Being able to connect with others who may feel “less than” and show them that no matter what you’ve done or haven’t done, you’re still special, you’re still valuable, and as long as you have a pulse in your body, you still have a purpose on this earth!
Motivating others to be the best versions of themselves regardless of their past decisions is what blesses me the most.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
My advice for finding a mentor is find someone who has successfully done what you’re wanting to do and learn from them. Follow the opinions of people who have gone where you’re trying to go not the people who have an opinion on how they think you should do it.
