Life & Work with Kaison Jacobs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaison Jacobs.

Hi Kaison, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello VoyageATL! My name is Kaison Jacobs also known as Kashmere Santana and I’m a New Orleans Bounce Artist, Rapper, Singer, Songwriter, Upcoming Reality TV Personality and A&R Scout. I got started when I was around three years old with music when I joined the church choir. Afterwards, I discovered I had a passion for music with producing, writing and rapping. A lot of my musical influences are Michael Jackson, Sadè, Erykah Badu, OutKast, Jill Scott and more!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Throughout this journey, I do have some struggles that comes but however I find calming and healthy mechanisms to cope with the stress so I don’t get too overwhelmed with things. It’s definitely not a smooth road, but sometimes you have to hit a few bumps to get to the other side. Some of the struggles I say I have or go through is making sure I execute my plans accordingly, managing time, and ensure I do not place wear and tear on my physical and mental health.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
What’s going on VoyageATL! My name is Kaison Jacobs, also known as Kashmere Santana and I’m a New Orleans Bounce Artist, Rapper, Singer, Songwriter and Upcoming Reality TV Personality/Actor. I’m known for being a music artist in the New Orleans Bounce community as well as being a Party Host/Entertainer. I am also a DJ under the moniker “ DJKA$HTHEBEAT”. I’m most proud of being on Gemini Filmz Hit Reality Show “The Come Up: Miami”, stepping out of my comfort zone and being unapologetically me! What sets me apart from others is that I have my own style and my personality is one of a kind! I get a lot of my creative ideas from the music I listen to. My favorite kind of genres with music are Neo Soul, Psychedelic Rock, R&B, Hip Hop, Jazz, Pop, and Gospel.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My advice to anybody who is starting out is to never get discouraged on what others or what the outside world thinks of you! It might be times where you want to give up, but just remember hard times don’t last forever. One thing I wish I knew when starting out was how to manage time, money and priorities. I think when you start out, you expect fast results but in reality, your future of reality is based on how bad you really want it!
