Life & Work with Katherine Boggs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katherine Boggs.

Katherine Boggs

Hi Katherine, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I studied Art and Arts Management at the College of Charleston in South Carolina. Here I worked under several local artists and creators learning how running a small business as an artist could be a viable career option. I moved to New York after graduating and worked for a small brand creating handmade greeting cards and prints while creating and selling my own paintings on the side. Craving a closer sense of community, I moved to Atlanta in 2019, where I have been pursuing my own career full-time ever since.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
A big hurdle for me personally was having to learn the digital side of creating. Teaching myself graphic design skills on my computer and iPad have been critical in growing by business.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Inspired by color, nature, and a strong sense of wanderlust, Katherine has traveled across the United States, as well as internationally, installing murals and showcasing her work. With a bold sense of color and subject matter, she strives to brighten and transform each space her artwork dwells in.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Covid taught me the importance of constantly producing/creating. During this time, I released over 200 smaller artworks and studies on my website, referring to them as “quarTINY works on paper”. This allowed me to continue my practice, explore new subject matters, and appeal to a larger target audience by providing work at a lower price point
