Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathryn Wood.
Hi Kathryn, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My fitness journey began in 2014 when I was preparing to go to college to play lacrosse. I have been lifting since then and also competed in 6 Npc bikini competitions, one being a national show. Seeing how I transformed my own body I wanted to help others. I didn’t do this right away as I was a nurse for a few years while doing personal training on the side. My journey hasn’t been easy as I have dealt with a lot of struggles at the women help go through- believe it in the fad diet they hear about, thinking they need to eat less and move more and follow a very restrictive diet because that’s what society or social media tells them to. I originally began my own online coaching career which that has been successful. But as I have grown into the role of motherhood, I am taking a spin on my own business where I am focusing on selling more workout programs for a low ticket in my app, but I do still offer one-to-one online training, but not as Intense or expensive as I was previously. The behind the scenes of starting a business has been rough where I have gone through for mentorships each being around six to $8000 so pouring a lot into my own business where there were a few years that I had to completely restart. Now I know the basics of what I need to do and focusing on reaching more women who have struggle with the same issues I did but also making my content on my social media more specific for moms so that way they know exactly what to do or know what simple things that can be doing even with a busy schedule with taking care of kids.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road. I have spent between $12-$15,000 on a few different mentors where a lot of them weren’t a good fit so that was honestly a waste of money on my part. But finally found one who really showed me the areas that I was struggling with, which was actually talking to people and understanding what I need to say in directing the conversation so it feels easier to land them as a client. But a lot of the back and stuff was the worst part like getting an app set up filming a lot of my workouts, making sure my content was what I would like it to be so it was reaching the niche that I had. Needless to say a lot of outside work beyond my main job that I was working at the time.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an online fitness coach and the creator of AK Fiit, (my new app will be branded as hotmomlifts) where I help women — especially busy moms and post-grad professionals — build confidence, strength, and balance without restriction or burnout. My coaching focuses on sustainable fat loss, strength training, and learning to eat for your goals while still enjoying life (and your kids’ snacks).
I started my journey after losing about 25 pounds myself — I went from over-training and under-eating to truly understanding how to fuel my body and build muscle. That transformation taught me that fitness isn’t about punishment; it’s about empowerment and confidence.
Over the past few years, I’ve helped hundreds of women lose 20+ pounds and, more importantly, create routines they can actually maintain. I’m most proud of helping women shift from “all or nothing” to “progress over perfection.”
What sets me apart is how relatable and real I make fitness feel. My programs are designed for real life — quick nap-time workouts, simple nutrition habits, and mindset shifts that fit into motherhood and busy schedules. My mission is to help women feel strong, confident, and hot in their own skin — not just for a season, but for life.
What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future are to still be an online coach but moving toward the creator side- so my content I post is specific to moms and their struggles and where I share my own tips being a step mom.
I think the biggest thing is rebranding and creating a new app- this will have all of my workouts for moms- postpartum to advanced, where they can do them in their own homes. Plus nutritional guidance with macros and meal ideas.
