Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelsey Scott.
Hi Kelsey, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Well, as a mother of four children, I’d say it started there! Im always taking their pictures or having pictures taken. I had the idea to start going to college for photography after many a talk with my best friend, who is also a photographer. She helped encourage me to go back to school when I thought I couldn’t. While at school I learned from the very best and they helped me get to where I am today. My love for photography has only grown since and I’m always trying to set up my next session!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s not always been easy. As I said before. I’m a mom of four beautiful kids. Trying to care for them, go to school, and run a business can be a lot but I manage! But it doesn’t go without saying that I’ve had LOTS of help along the way. Getting a business up and running is difficult but being persistent and not letting things get you down goes a long way.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I work mostly in portrait photography. I do it all! But my expertise is in weddings, children, families, couples, and seniors. I have to say the sessions I’m most proud of are my families/ children shoots. It’s always a nice feeling when a mom and dad are worried their children won’t cooperate, do! I try to make it a fun experience for them. I’d say my ability to cater to all different types of people and situations is what sets me apart from the rest. Everyone is different and some people love being in front of the camera, but some are very uncomfortable, and being able to help everyone be comfortable is important! Helping people make memories they’ll have forever is the goal.
What matters most to you? Why?
Family is important to me. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them. I truly mean that. My husband is my support, helping encourage me when I’m feeling down about my work. My mother in law helping with my kids when I have a shoot! My sister in law helping me learn the ins and outs of photography. Family are some of your biggest supporters! Without them. I don’t know where I’d be.
