Life & Work with Kendal Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendal Williams.

Hi Kendal, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m from NY, I grew up in the church, my pops is the pastor/founder. So I’ve been around music my entire life; my brother went to school for performing arts and minored in music theory & my sister was signed as a songwriter and has some very big placements. Even my parents had their runs back in their day. Therefore making it big in music has always been a dream of mine. Versatility is what I consider my strong suit; I make rnb, hip hop, gospel, even some rock. I started making music seriously in 2018 and I haven’t (& will never) looked back.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Realizing that the industry is no longer focused on talent has been my biggest drawback. I’ve had to educate myself on the inner workings of business in the music industry and tho I’m appreciative of the information, I never thought I’d need it. I always thought that being talented would be enough, but there’s so much more behind the scenes and as an artist, you aren’t focused on that, you’re perfecting your craft.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a singer/songwriter. People know me for my voice and my musical talents. I play the drums, piano and bass guitar (in that order). I’m most proud of my vocal control (which will forever be in training) and my constant progress on the piano.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Time is the most important thing. Opportunity follows closely behind that. Connections are valuable but they won’t get you as far as hard work, dedication and timing. Also, no one makes it overnight, even if it seems like it… it was never overnight.
