Life & Work with Kianna Wilson of South Fulton, GA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kianna Wilson.

Hi Kianna, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my business in June 2020 as Chic Kouture Aesthetics LLC. I was sent home from my freshman year in college at Georgia Southern in March 2020 due to Covid. In May 2020, I decided to get a job at Amazon & the beauty supply store on Cascade. I only worked those jobs for a month and decided to quit & take a leap of faith because I felt like I had no leisure time for myself & family/friends. In high school I used to say I would want to do lashes but never took it serious because I played soccer and my boyfriend at the time would tell me, “Why would I want to do that when everyone else does it?”. If it wasn’t for Covid, I doubt I would’ve even started my business because I was a college girl & my major was Biology. My homegirl & I both started doing lashes around the same time. She took her class 2 weeks before me & we been on this journey ever since, almost 6 years soon since we started. She used to do my beauty supply clusters in high school, so taking a lash class was just like what’s the worse that can possibly happen if we don’t bet on ourselves & take the risk? We both were sick of working for someone else, barely getting paid anything. We both have a loyal consistent clientele, even still have clients from when we both started. I also got my teeth whitening & tooth gems certification in 2020/2021. I even went to Esthetician school in March 2022 & graduated in November 2022 & became licensed in March 2023. I rebranded my business under my name K. Marie Aesthetics LLC in August 2023. Currently, I am dual-licensed in Georgia and Nevada. I been licensed in Nevada since November 2024 & currently still building my business out there as a bicoastal Lash Artist & Esthetician.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course there’s been struggles, I’d be lying if I said it’s been a smooth journey. Being an entrepreneur is a mind battle each & everyday, especially in this economy. It’s a blessing to even have clients that include my services in their budget because I know how difficult life can get, but you must keep pushing. Self care is the best care, so I am beyond grateful that God continues to provide me with amazing clients so I can stay afloat in this economy. It’s been days when I was stressed out because of bills, but I’m at that point in my life now that I have so much faith in my God, I wouldn’t be where I am without him and everything he’s provided for me. Stepping out on faith was the best thing I could’ve ever did.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a multi-talented Lash Artist & Esthetician. I do all styles of lashes, custom mink strips. teeth whitening, tooth gems, waxing, & result-driven facials. I am mainly known for my lashes since that’s what I started my career with, I just added more specializations under my belt. I have a decent amount of facial clients as well & I love that for me because I know my hands are magical & you’ll see the difference in just one session. I am mostly proud of myself & my ambition. The sky is the limit & I am the definition of that. My drive, knowledge & passion is what sets me apart from others. I go over & beyond for my clients & work with them to the best of my ability so they can be overly satisfied. Word of mouth & your first impression being the best impression is very essential to me.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I am still working on being the best version of myself business wise. I am so used to being solo while working, I am a work in process when it comes to meeting like-minded people & connecting with them. Putting myself out there & going out more will put me in rooms I can’t even imagine. I’m learning to live life a little more & getting to know different people, that have walked different lives and putting our thoughts together. Social media has worked well with me, coming across all kinds of people & potentially working with them, doing service for service or just giving each other advice. I also want to attend more business social events & go to business conventions to meet other fellow business owners in the same work field as me.
