Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Vann.
Hi Kimberly , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey started with a genuine love for hair and helping people feel good about themselves. What began as a passion slowly turned into a career as I spent years learning, growing, and perfecting my craft behind the chair. Over time, I realized that hair was only part of the bigger picture. I was just as passionate about educating, uplifting, and helping others see their potential.
I started creating custom wigs and hair solutions out of a desire to serve my clients better, and that eventually opened the door to building my own brand. Like many entrepreneurs, my path wasn’t always clear or easy, but every step taught me something valuable. I leaned into the process, trusted my vision, and stayed committed to growth.
Today, I’m grateful to do what I love while building something meaningful—whether that’s through my salon, my products, or mentoring other beauty professionals. My goal has always been simple: to create beautiful work, empower others, and leave people feeling more confident than when they came to me.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not a smooth road. Like most entrepreneurs, I’ve faced my share of challenges — from learning the business side of beauty the hard way, to navigating setbacks, self-doubt, and moments of burnout. There were times when growth felt slow and I had to wear every hat myself. But each challenge taught me resilience, clarity, and confidence. Those moments shaped how I show up today — more focused, more intentional, and more committed to building something lasting.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in luxury hair services, custom wigs, and hair extensions, with a strong focus on hair health, education, and personalization. Over the years, I’ve built a reputation for creating natural-looking results while helping clients truly understand their hair and how to care for it. Beyond the salon, I also create products and educational resources to help other beauty professionals grow and elevate their businesses.
What I’m most proud of is building something that goes beyond just services. I’ve created a space where clients feel seen, cared for, and confident—and where stylists feel empowered to grow, learn, and believe in their potential.
What sets me apart is my approach. I don’t believe in shortcuts or trends without purpose. Everything I do is rooted in education, intention, and quality. I genuinely care about the long-term results for my clients and the impact I make in the beauty community, and that’s what continues to drive me every day.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Lol! Ooh! That’s a good question!
Most people don’t know I auditioned for a spot on this show called “Showtime at the Apollo” when I was around 19 or 20 years old. I was so nervous, but I wanted to do it just to see what would happen. It was an entry way type audition. I was in Mississippi, so it was called “Showtime at Jackson”. Whoever won would have to opportunity to go on to the Apollo to get put through their process. IYKYK. The Apollo audience does not play! Lol.
Well, I sang a popular song of the day by Deborah Cox, or I may have sang a Whitney Houston song. Either way, I did ok considering I used to be so afraid to sing in front of people I didn’t know. The audience was good to me. I made it through, ya’ll! Haha!
Anyway, I didn’t win but I wa super proud of myself for getting over that hurdle. The person who won was very deserving. It was a little boy who played the drums. He was amazing!
So, yeah! That’s something about me ya’ll probably didn’t know.
