Today we’d like to introduce you to Kobe Almon.
Hi Kobe, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Hello, My name Is Kobe. Also known as Tyrek. I grew up in a small town outside of Atlanta. I always had a taste for Streetwear and clothing in general. I used to play a lot of virtual reality games like Meez.com, and Imvu. I never was fortunate enough to wear some of the stuff I wanted to as a kid so I would go on a virtual game and just dress my character up like I would in reality. I was only 12-13 seeing people wear stuff that is popular or what was back then. I’d spend hours trying to make my character look the best or different from everyone else before I even entered a chat room. So that really is what kind of molded me into who I am today just off the different age groups that I used to play those games with and the clothes I used to see… I also used to take modeling classes I would go to every week during the summer when I was 15. They would always teach us how to walk with confidence, keep your image up to par, and just stand out in public. My first time actually making clothes was in 2019. I was going to a party one day and I didn’t have any jeans to match my outfit so I found some old fabric in my room one day and some old h&m jeans. I never knew how to sew so I would always just pin everything together, and made my first custom jeans. That leads up to a lot of people telling me to start my own clothing line. A lot of people would previously tell me to just off my fashion taste going to school when I was younger. I would wear a lot of Jeremy Scott Adidas, Old Nascar tees, Rockstar Tees, Bape, CDG, Supreme and a couple of underground pieces I would find on Grailed or Depop. This would also bring a lot of attention just because of the young age I was doing it and the followers I had on social media at the time before I was deleted. My first time actually starting an actual brand was in 2020 with my close friend called “Devil Angels.” The name came from everybody having good and bad in them because we are not all perfect.
I started off doing a lot of vinyl since I didn’t know much about manufacturers at the time. This clothing line would go on for about 5-6 months before me and my friend went different ways just off different mindsets and opinions. I would start my own clothing line called “undefined” which didn’t really have a deep meaning to me. I still was learning the clothing line business and just were eager to start one. I started to get my name out there a little more around the end of 2020 when I would sell a lot of rhinestone hoodies for an affordable price locally which I’d make in my brother’s old room. I then would take a break from making clothes because I started to lose hope and motivation and had no passion for it. Which would bring my new and renovation to my clothing line which is now “Nothing Matters USA”. This renovation really excited me because all of the designs and pieces were genuine to me and not rushed or forced. When I’m designing I always do it off my mood or it could even be something I remember seeing years ago and just making it my own style. “Nothing Matters” comes from me just realizing in life nothing but what we want to, matters. I was always a person with a lot of anxiety so I would always overthink and worry about things that didn’t matter to me or things I couldn’t change.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Yeah. I feel like everything is about what you make it though. You have to overcome all obstacles that life throws at you. It’s never easy if so, you wouldn’t have a story to tell. But, a couple of my struggles along the way were just people you thought that were with you really never wanted to see you win. I feel like that’s the only thing that was a big struggle throughout the way. Being held to your full potential just off people knowing how talented you are.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I do a lot of stuff not a lot of people know. Like I am a DJ on SoundCloud. I do repost, host for people’s albums, etc. I also like to find people I feel like has a lot of music potential and push their music on my SoundCloud since I get a decent amount of plays. I also do graphic designing for a couple of other brands besides myself, and a little of Creative Directing. I am most proud of myself for this action because people really come to me for help even though I am still learning myself. That just tells me people trust me enough for me to help them and I really like helping people because I know In the clothing business industry it’s not as easy as it looks. I feel like something that sets me apart from a lot of people is my persona. A lot of people who know me personally know how cool I really am and I feel like that is what makes people like me so much outside of Instagram. But even going off Instagram I feel like the way I carry myself really catches people’s attention.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Learning how to do a backflip. Now that I’m older I realize it wasn’t even the backflip I was happy about learning it was the dedication and passion I had for learning it. I never gave up and I put my head to doing something and I would practice doing it every day. I wanted to learn so bad at the moment because I would watch a lot of Jerking videos which was cool back then, and I knew how to do everything but that.
