Today we’d like to introduce you to Krave Kay.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
How I got my hair business started is I started selling hair extensions the end of my senior year of high school (2016). It honestly wasn’t something that was hard for me because anyone that knew me knew I always kept my hair done and loved bundles. After I graduated, I didn’t really have a set idea on what I wanted to do next. I went to college for a year but dropped out because I really couldn’t get in tune with it, especially because I also started working. Along with being in college, I was a sales associate at my local mall for a male store and a female boutique. While working those jobs, I knew in the back of my mind it was going to last long lol I HATED being told what to do. Once I decided to quit those jobs, I decided to go full throttle with my brand Krave Kay Kollection. Aside from just selling the bundles, I decided to make customized wigs and slowly but surely my hair customers turned me into a hairstylist. The wigs that I was selling online at the time from my brand my customers would also ask if I could install it for them. I started to add more accessories to my collection such as custom headbands and custom name hairpins that went crazy! Being consistent was something that honestly helped my business grow as much as it did and of course, just keeping God close and staying focused!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not! I promise it isn’t as easy as it looks especially because I’ve never had anyone show me how to be my own boss. Some of my struggles weee learning the ins and outs of the legal side to running a legit business. As far as what you should register for, the taxes behind products, and how important it is to have business credit (which I now offer to help other business owners achieve).
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love that Atlanta is a place to come and be what you want and accomplish your goals. It’s like everyone here is their own boss in their own special way! There are so many people here you can collaborate and network with
The thing I like least about Atlanta is the crime! The crime rate has gone up soooo much science I moved here and it’s so sad to just see people getting killed left and right
