Life & Work with Lance and Lea

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lance and Lea

Lance Kotara

Lance and Lea, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Lea grew up Amish, singing in church with her sisters, and I grew up playing in a rock band. My first concert was Metallica at age 13.

We met at the Country Radio Seminar in Nashville 10 years ago. Soon after, we fell in love and since then have released 4 albums, written over 500 songs, and toured the US four times over. We even got to play in Ireland this year! It’s been an amazing adventure. We are currently about to release a double album (our fifth release) and will be pressing it to vinyl. It encompasses each of our roots. One side is country and gospel in connection with Lea’s roots, and the other is Blues rock, which are my roots.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have been obstacles along the way, but the key is continuing to move forward and respect and listen to each other throughout the process. Everyone has a voice, and each voice is equally important. You’re going to have obstacles, but it’s how you react to them, and if you keep going, that really matters.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We are artists and songwriters. Most proud of the music we’ve created and released over the years and the amazing wonderful community of friends we’ve made through the process. As I mentioned earlier, we’ve toured the US four times over and have done over 100,000 miles of touring at this point. Songwriting is what brought us together, and it’s our number one passion.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Follow your heart, and live your passion every day! It’s what makes you who you are, and no one else can be that!
