Life & Work with Lindsay Ware of Glenwood Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsay Ware

Hi Lindsay, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I first discovered graphic design while exploring schools for fashion design. I remember seeing student projects on the walls, including one where they branded an airline, and I instantly knew that this was the career for me. I graduated from Auburn University in 2009 with a BFA in Graphic Design and spent most of my career working in-house, building brands at companies like Spanx and If I Made, while always freelancing on the side. In 2022, I made the leap to full-time freelance and launched my own studio, Studio Valley.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey hasn’t always been smooth, but I’ve learned a lot along the way. Early experiences in my career helped shape the designer I am today. At first, the challenges were about landing a job and adapting to a corporate creative environment. Now, the challenges are about growing and managing my business. Design has always involved a bit of sales, but running my own studio requires me to really sell myself and my services, which doesn’t come naturally.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in branding and art direction for both emerging and established brands. While I’m particularly drawn to the hospitality industry, I’ve developed brands across a range of categories, including wellness, restaurants, beauty, fashion, and personal brands. I’m passionate about creating immersive brand experiences where every detail is considered, allowing people to fully enter a brand’s world. From the exterior signage to the soap in the bathroom—every touchpoint matters. I’m proud of the work I’ve accomplished so far. Branding a restaurant had always been a dream of mine, and I was able to achieve that last year. I hope to continue down that path.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
This is a good one and something I even talk about in therapy (LOL). The biggest lesson I wish I had known early on is that it’s okay to set boundaries. Fresh out of school, you’re eager to take on the world, and that hunger is great—but it’s just as important to take care of yourself along the way. Another piece of advice would be to just go for it. Whatever you want to do in life, just start. I wish I had been more comfortable taking risks when I was first starting out.
