Life & Work with Lynnette Thompson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lynnette Thompson.

Lynnette Thompson

Lynnette, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hi! My name is Lynnette Thompson! I was born and raised in Detroit Michigan. I am the mother of two and grandmother of one. My education experience includes and undergraduate degree in Special Education, a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and Doctoral Studies in Educational Technology.

My passion is to be an advocate for children especially those with learning difficulties, which is why I chose the career of Special Education teacher(K-5) in Dougherty County. Although I am fulfilling my role well and seeing a direct influence in the school system, I wanted to expand my reach by connecting with individuals who had lost hope in the school system.

Upon starting 3LT Innovations LLC, I began to use methods that were focused on creative and faith based learning. My company is an educational support and creative service that offers assistance with the development and support of the whole child. Through unique and creative systems, we instill spiritual and academic mentoring in ways to make each child flourish! We believe that the power of faith in Jesus Christ can be beautifully woven into the tapestry of a child’s upbringing to believe in success despite discouraging methods of standardized testing and the day to day struggles to adapt when having learning difficulties.

In addition, to that, I knew that part of my entrepreneurial journey was to encourage children to become Lil’ Kingdom Builders through the works of books, card games, coloring books, journals and more! The road to writing and publishing ‘Lil Kingdom Builders’ began 12 years ago while living in Chicago prior to even considering what 3LT Innovations would become! After living in Chicago for 8 months I knew that I made a mistake in taking on an assignment that wasn’t a good fit for me. During this stressful season I would frequently pray. One morning while praying I felt a tug from a small hand. This was the hand of my 2 year old grandson who desired to join me in prayer. This became a daily occurrence until we moved from that unfortunate situation. I thought about his sweet innocence but mostly his faith in believing what we prayed for. He was unwavering the older he grew. Faith was instilled in him early and it was non-negotiable that he and I believed! He was the definition of when the bible says “childlike faith”! I thought to myself,”How powerful will he be in the future with a foundation based on the Word of God?”  Nothing was impossible to him! And this was the beginning of how ‘Lil Kingdom Builders!’ came about, which is now published on Amazon, Barnes and Nobles and Books-a- Million!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The hardest part of the process of entrepreneurship is “life issues”. Death in the family, relocation, and other things caused several delays with publishing. In addition to that I just knew I had to find the right person/company to publish our books. In today’s times it’s hard to push the straightforward message of the gospel. Many companies try to change the narrative to fit the world’s standards or acceptance but that was not my agenda. I wanted what worked for my grandson and I during our hardest season – prayer and faith! I also knew that without a shadow of a doubt I wanted my son, who is the illustrator of my book and coloring book, to be on the journey with me! I wanted this to be a family legacy of work when it came to the authorship process!

Thankfully, I was able to connect with Asha Cannon, the owner of The Lovejoy Publishing Company! Her company was an answered prayer! She not only worked with my son to assist with illustrations but made the process seamless! What I thought would take months took less than 3 weeks! Not only was my book published but we also had a coloring book out 2 weeks later!

So, to say the least, one of the things I would say to anyone who was considering not only entrepreneurship, but authorship as well, it matters who you work with! I have worked with people that have a passion for the works of Christ and care deeply about the mission that 3LT Innovations serves. Although it seemed like those years took forever and I felt so behind, I am actually right on time for the work that’s needed where I am! With entrepreneurship you have to believe “it” before you see it most times! My faith helped me to understand that writing the book, starting the organization was bigger than me! It was coming to serve those in need and help them in the area where most children, even without learning limitations, need it!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Currently I am serving as a Special Education teacher(K-5) for students identified with specific learning difficulties in Dougherty County School System. I also serve as one of the teachers for the youth at Freedom Church of Albany, where I teach biblical lessons and coordinate activities from lower Elementary to 5th grade.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
There are many great things coming from 3LT Innovations as we prepare additional books for children to encourage them to become everything they believe in their heart! In addition, we are revamping our program to offer more services and training our team and youth on how to use AI effectively and with integrity! We are preparing ourselves for what’s to come in the education field, technology, and doing it in the right spirit to advance our young ones that we encounter! We want them to not be limited to learning the bare minimum just to say they ” passed” but we want to blow their minds with the creativeness that is in each child! I am excited about this path of purpose!
