Life & Work with Maedeh Samimi of Roswell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maedeh Samimi.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
When I was in my early twenties, I developed grade three cystic acne. As a makeup artist, I did what I knew best—I covered it up. Day after day, I masked my skin with foundation and concealer, convincing myself that if no one could see my breakouts, they didn’t really exist. But they did. The makeup wasn’t solving anything; it was only suffocating my skin further, clogging my pores and deepening my frustration.
More than the physical breakouts, the acne was affecting my confidence. I found myself hiding behind makeup in more ways than one, and I knew something had to change. That’s when I decided to go deeper—literally and figuratively. I wanted to understand the largest organ in our body and find real solutions, not just quick fixes. I pursued esthetics not just for myself, but because I knew I wasn’t alone. Millions of women were doing exactly what I was doing: using makeup as a security blanket instead of a solution.
As I built my career in the medical spa industry, I immersed myself in clinical treatments and advanced procedures. I logged over 10,000 hours of hands-on experience, continuously learning and staying current with the latest innovations in skincare. But the more I worked within established systems, the more I realized I wanted something different. I didn’t just want to provide treatments—I wanted to build a practice where I could do things my way, where I could treat every client the way I wanted to be treated. I wanted to be an esthetician friend to the women who came through my door, not just a service provider.
In February 2020, I took the leap and opened Urban Skin Care Clinic in Roswell, Georgia. The timing was unconventional, to say the least. Just weeks into launching my dream, the world changed. Suddenly, people were afraid to be close to one another, and here I was, trying to build a business centered on intimate, face-to-face clinical treatments. Facials require two people to be vulnerable together in close proximity—not exactly the easiest thing to do during a pandemic.
Building my clientele was slow. There were moments of doubt, moments when the fear was real and the path seemed uncertain. But I refused to take shortcuts or compromise my vision. Every single client who trusted me during those early days received my full respect and genuine care. I treated each person as though they were my first client and my last, because that’s what they deserved.
That commitment to treating people with love and respect became my foundation. Slowly but surely, my clientele grew. Today, I’m booked four to six weeks out, and I never take a single client for granted. Every new person who walks through my door is someone who chose to trust me with their skin and their confidence.
My journey taught me that following your passion isn’t always the easiest path, but it’s the only one that leads to genuine fulfillment. When you’re driven by a real desire to help others and you stay true to your values, people feel it. They trust it. And that trust becomes the bedrock of something truly meaningful.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—but that’s made the journey more meaningful.
The most obvious challenge was timing. I opened in February 2020, and by March, the world shut down. I had just launched my dream, and suddenly I was navigating a pandemic while trying to build a business that literally requires close, intimate contact between two people. Clients were understandably hesitant. It was scary and discouraging, especially in those early months when everything felt uncertain.
Beyond the pandemic, building a clientele from scratch was harder than I anticipated. I wasn’t inheriting an established client base—I was starting completely from zero. That meant consistent, patient relationship-building, and there were times when I wondered if I’d made a mistake. Another struggle was learning the business side of things. I’m an esthetician and skincare expert, but being a business owner meant managing finances, marketing, operations, and customer service. That learning curve was steep, and there were definitely mistakes along the way.
What kept me going was remembering why I started this. I didn’t open Urban Skin Care Clinic to build a quick empire or make easy money. I opened it because I genuinely wanted to help women feel confident in their skin and to do it with integrity and care. That purpose sustained me through the doubt. The turning point came when I realized that my commitment to treating every person with respect and love—regardless of whether business was booming—was actually my competitive advantage. People could feel the difference. They felt valued. That authenticity created loyalty, and that loyalty built my business organically through word-of-mouth and referrals.
Today, I’m booked four to six weeks out, and my clientele continues to grow. But I never forget how hard those early days were, and that’s exactly why I show up for every client like they’re my first.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Urban Skin Care Clinic specializes in clinical acne treatment and age management for women, teens, and young professionals. We offer evidence-based treatments including Aerolase Neo Elite Laser, Microneedling, Chemical Peels, Dermaplaning, and customized facials—all tailored to each client’s unique skin needs.
As a Licensed Aesthetician, Certified Acne Expert, and Laser Practitioner, I’ve invested over 10,000 hours in hands-on clinical experience and continuously educate myself on the latest innovations in skincare. But what really sets us apart isn’t just our technology or expertise—it’s our approach. I’m passionate about helping women achieve what I call “makeup-optional confidence.” So many of us use makeup as a security blanket, just like I did. My goal is to clear acne, manage signs of aging, remove sun damage, and rejuvenate skin so thoroughly that makeup becomes a choice, not a necessity.
What I’m most proud of is the relationships I build with my clients. I treat every person with genuine respect and love, and they feel that difference. I never take anyone for granted, and I show up for each client like they’re my most important one. This isn’t transactional for me—it’s personal. My clients stay booked four to six weeks out because they know they’re not just getting treatment; they’re getting someone who truly cares about their skin journey and their confidence. In an industry that can feel rushed and impersonal, we prioritize meaningful connections alongside measurable results. That’s what sets Urban Skin Care Clinic apart.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My biggest advice is this: don’t underestimate the power of genuinely caring about the people you serve. It sounds simple, but in a business-driven world, it’s rare. Treat every single client—whether you’re booked solid or just starting out—like they’re your most important one. That authenticity builds loyalty and word-of-mouth in ways marketing budgets can’t.

Second, be prepared for the business side to be just as important as your technical skills. I was so focused on being the best esthetician possible that I underestimated how much I’d need to learn about finances, operations, and marketing. Invest time in understanding these areas early.

Third, don’t let slow starts discourage you. My first months were incredibly challenging, especially with the pandemic. But I stayed committed to my vision and my values. Growth may be slower than you hoped, but if you’re authentic and intentional, it will come.

Finally, remember your why. On hard days—and there will be hard days—your purpose is what sustains you. I didn’t open my clinic to get rich; I opened it to help women feel confident in their skin. That kept me going when things were uncertain.
Stay true to yourself, and your people will find you.
