Today we’d like to introduce you to Manushi Patel
Hi Manushi, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am a first generation Indian born in Tullahoma, TN. My parents were an arranged marriage and moved to the United States for a better life for their future children. They came to this country with $72 dollars to their name on their own and made a very happy life for my 2 sisters and I. We had an extremely happy childhood and were raised in South Carolina. My parents still own their first business they bought 44 years ago and are inseparable, they do everything together! My parents worked hard and sent my sisters and I to private school from kindergarten till we graduated high school. During my growing years, I learned what hard work was by simply watching my parents. They sacrificed material things, to be able to give us a great education.
It was during my college years in Atlanta that I learned more of my culture and Indian background. Where I grew up in South Carolina, I was not exposed to various cultures. I was not faced with blatant discrimination, but I felt as though I was different from my peers. Throughout college I gained many friends and learned of all ethnicities and cultures.
My mother says that I was born with confidence and she could see it in me at such a young age. She said I was an ambitious, energetic, confident child. I will say that one characteristic has been my super power. No matter where I go or who I meet, I feel confident and grateful. I believe the confidence has carried me through many stages of life. I am raising 3 little men of my own and I try and instill confidence in them on a weekly basis in many different ways.
At this point in my life, I have decided to help women, women of all ages but especially mothers and women over 40 find confidence in their everyday lives through my social media content. I have been wanting to start inspiring women for a handful of years, but the timing was not right. I have taken the first step and started my social media account, and I know this is only the beginning. I cannot wait to see where life leads me from here.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not a smooth road, and faced with many adversities through my life.
I faced discrimination based on my ethnicity, and then also my “skinnier” body frame, and skin color.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a new content creator helping to inspire women of all ages, but especially women over 40 and mothers. I hope to inspire women through fitness and healthy eating, which I am very passionate about. I am a lover of beauty and fashion and I love to help women feel confident and strong! This is only the beginning for me and I cannot wait to see where my platform leads me.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I have been a tennis player and swimmer since I was 4 years old.
