Hi Marlena, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My Name MARLENA O WILLIAMS . First I would like to say I would not be here without my creator for giving me life .
I am Master Cosmetologist and I truly have a passion for beauty ,health , fitness , and life itself . I truly started at a young age . I am a southern bell who was born in Atlanta ,Ga . No i am not a Grady baby . 🤣 I am still a homegrown peach . I grew up in a 2 parent home for a little while and my dad ended up not being able to come back home and that’s when reality hit me and I was only 7-8 years old and start when I realize that I had to learn how to take care of my self because life got real . As moving forward with life I was always into beauty , fashion and I always love dancing and camera . I can truly say being myself push me to where I am today , yet alone My spirituality and my faith with my Creator . I completed my course earlier in high school so I was given the option to pick out of dental , nursing , or cosmetology. I definitely picked cosmetology because I was always into it and it was just always something that was a hidden passion of mines . While running track and doing hair I was always able to
Be myself and be creative . I love being creative and understanding that life has a lot to offer . As I continue my journey I had to raise my self in a lot of different way and did not have proper guidance at a young to teach me what I know now . That’s just the beauty of life . My favorite Go to hairstyle was always a ponytail and braids , always making something. Out of nothing. I started braiding hair to help me maintain myself in sports and through life itself because I realize all I had was God and myself . My favorite go to was weheart it and Pinterest that’s where I start to get a lot of my ideas . I use to cut out magazine of anything dealing with beauty , health , fashion anything that inspired my creativity I just placed it on the wall . I always found something creative to do whether it was to take picture or dancing or just doing hair or I’m getting my hair done . One of my favorite movies was barber shop with Queen Latifah and where can the owner called her shampooing girl lol . It just reminded me of me because I literally started from scratch and worked my way up . I also notice that I couldn’t keep a regular job that was a no for me . I got rejected three time before I was able to pursue my beauty career and I had put in real hard work , sweat and tears. So I know that it was destined for me to never give up on my dreams and I kept going . March 31st was when I started my dream . God slide me into Empire Beauty School(Morrow ,Ga ) and I was able to get in and officially was able to start my beauty career. That’s when everything happen I lost everything again . I lost my car, I had to sleep couch to couch, house to house . Some days got
Extremely hard for me I just kept my faith and never gave up . I’m thinking 10 months was be a breeze . No my silly way of think at the time . Those 10
Months were the most intense peak of a beautiful new beginning. I’m forever grateful for what life brought me and had for me I am very grateful to start my new life as a professional hairstylist. Here to bring back the professional experience and the true meaning of following your dreams and never allow anyone or anything stop you from doing what needs to be done . Not even yourself .
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The struggle I had along the way is learning the ways of being a professional hairstylist and what’s the highs and lows. Also learning your type of clientele you want to attract.another struggle I would like to say I experienced is the some of the owner of the salon who has no knowledge of the beauty industry and slow seasons and just use hairstylist for their own business and not realizing the realistic reality of being a hairstylist comes with . They only see if from a money point of view .

I truly am a color lover . I love color and bringing and mixing color to life . It’s such a surprise experience. Playing with color always been my thing . I love natural hair because I always been into how versatility our hair can be .
I always been a sew-in girl
And I love being able to work out and not have to mess with my real
Hair . 🤣🤣
