Life & Work with Martel Taylor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Martel Taylor. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Martel Taylor was born and raised in Pontiac Michigan. As a child, Martel was very outgoing and played well with other children. When at home, he spent a lot of time playing by himself and making up stories. Raised in the church by his grandmother, he was active in different youth ministries. While growing up, Martel played sports and also took an interest in comedy along with acting. One of Martel’s favorite routines was entertaining his family by using a broom and practicing preaching. This was eventually replaced with the desire to entertain others with laughter. As an adult, Martel took a series of jobs that eventually led him to getting involved in the mortgage banking business. This was not intended to be a career path. However, Martel decided to pursue this career in order to put food on the table for his family. After putting his dreams and goals on hold for over 15 years, he decided it was time to follow his passion and concentrate on the next phase of his life. Martel always remembered his grandmother telling him that “whatever you do in life, to be the best at it”. Those words encouraged him to in 2010 begin writing his first pilot Television show episode. As of 2022, Martel has completed writing five films, two pilot television series, written, produced and directed a short film titled “A Story of Faith” a stage play titled “Broken Covenant” and wrote, directed and produced his current full-length feature film “Broken Covenant The Movie” Martel, is looking forward to the next chapter of his life as a successful writer, director and producer for film and television. For Martel Taylor “THE BEST IS YET TO COME”.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wish that I could say that it has been a smooth road, however I can’t. Making a name for yourself in the film/television industry as an independent filmmaker is no easy task. One such struggle as a producer is attempting to obtain development funding and distribution deals. Another struggle is due to the digital revolution has flooded the marketplace. Cheaper digital production has created more products than buyers. Another struggle is getting your content in the hands of major film studios and production companies.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Created by independent film writer Martel Taylor, Taylor1films is a media company designed with the sole purpose to uplift, inspire and connect with an audience through movies, television, stage plays and documentaries built around family, faith, love and real-life situations.

What I’m most proud of is that I set a goal to be a filmmaker and never gave up. I set a goal to one day complete a Taylor1Films full-length feature film written, directed and produced by myself. And this came true in 2021.

What sets Taylor1films apart from other independent filmmakers is that our the goal is to showcase positive images that our current and future generations will be proud of.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success a few different ways. One is by setting a goal, achieving the goal and never giving up regardless of the many obstacles that may come up along the way. I also define success by giving back and making a difference in your community. By taking what you’ve learned and giving others an opportunity that you wasn’t afforded. Lastly, I also define success by creating and leaving a legacy for future generations that includes your family and friends.
