Life & Work with Megan Harper

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Harper.

Hi Megan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I stuck with my dreams & made them a reality. I truly believe if I can do it, anyone can & I am dedicated to inspiring and uplifting other like-minded future entrepreneurs. In the same breath, I am loyal to my clients and all their specific needs as an artist and skincare specialist. From doing makeup in my apartment between bartending gigs, to award-winning makeup artist, esthetician, & successful business owner. My story is simple; I didn’t give up.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Owning a business continues to prove its struggles. But with every risk comes reward, ever fail comes a win & every down comes back up. I could list you 100’s if hoops you have to jump through to own a business, but instead I’ll share what I’ve learned. Always be prepared to lose a little money, make some mistakes, and be really kind to yourself in the process. If you give yourself space to mess up, the small stuff won’t feel so big. And I promise if you stick with it & keep learning, you’ll get to where you want to be.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a well-rounded artist and skincare specialist. I specialize in boudoir and photoshoot makeup. Probably because my favorite thing to do is help people feel sexy. I have also spent over a decade with my brides. Making people feel Incredible on the biggest day of their life is another favorite thing of mine. I also love to lead people on their personalized skincare journey. Educating them about the importance of skin health and guiding them to their skincare goals while creating healthy habits together is so special to me.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
I was so fortunate to have my Grandmother really help me out getting started. At the time, I was a little prideful and didn’t want help, but she fit the bill for my first round of esthetician school so I am forever thankful for her and my parents who always had my back when I needed help. I was working full time and going to school doing the best I could to get by, so if you have someone in your life you can lean on for help, I highly suggest accepting that kindness. You are worthy of it. I also recommend saving as much as you can before going out in your own & creating a tally of initial investment cost so you don’t feel so overwhelmed when things start costing $. Just be smart with your investments and build amazing relationships with your clients.
