Life & Work with Melissa Marie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Marie.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I moved to Atlanta, Georgia from Memphis, Tennessee add 2013 on my 25th birthday. I literally move with $300 to my name and dropped out of college to become an obstetrician, and wanted to pursue my dream as a makeup artist. I started modeling in music videos, and I got a job at a strip club as a waitress and that’s how I got my first client. Everyone knows that the strip club scene runs in Atlanta and that’s how I began. I stopped being in front of the camera when it came to videos and started being behind the scenes because it was my passion, and they made more money

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth ride to become a Celebrity Makeup Artist because everyone is so cliquish. I literally had to network, make my face familiar, and work really hard to get to the position that I am in now. Once I got my work out there and people saw how talented I am, I started to get bookings. It took off from there.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a Celebrity Makeup Artist that specializes in everything glam. I’m known for my polish and perfection makeup looks. What I am most proud of are the opportunities, celebrities and shows I’ve worked on. I’m also proud of the time that I was on the Steve Harvey Show talking about my career. What sets me apart as a makeup artist is my versatility when it comes to my clientele, I can’t do any face shape, race and ethnicity.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory was when I turned ten years for Christmas. I got a toy makeup set because I’ve always had an interest in Makeup artistry.
